hrmm. The new "inverted" world map from Brazil is neat. don't see any easy way to get an official one in the USA. Maybe it's okay to print my own.

are there only two cooking techniques?
step 1: get food stuffs
step 2: either kill or proliferate the microorganisms on said food stuffs

Is "tribal knowledge" a colonizer term?
Seems like in tech that is used to mean "we need to take this knowledge and extract or distill it so that others can have it"
Wonder if and when it makes more sense to have those others "join the tribe" instead?

what specifically are the LLMs good at?
they lowered the barrier to entry for access to knowledge and prototyping.
vector embeddings seem useful?
LLMs dont solve problems relating to truth, authority/trust, collaboration, governance.
IMO the proof is yet to be seen on long term maintainability.
anyways tell me about your favorite programming language or math and have you used LLMs with it and what was that like?

here are some recent tree facts ive learned.
basswood which is quite soft and nice for carving comes from Tilia americana, native to eastern north America. and folks call it either a basswod tree or linden tree for some reason. it has more names too: https://roamingroots.blog/2025/08/16/tilia-americana/
the american chestnut is not gone yet but is considered at risk. some individuals survive outside the original range and people are working towards modifying the species to defend against the fungus that did it in. https://tacf.org/history-american-chestnut/
