@rmondello@hachyderm.io The #1 thing preventing me from embracing passkeys today is my (possibly unfounded) fear about the backup situation. Currently I back up my Bitwarden database periodically to an encrypted drive that I keep in a safe. Is there an equivalent for passkeys? If not, what's the best practice on that for someone paranoid of somehow accidentally losing everything? (I'm sure you've answered this before somewhere, so sorry if so!)

I would like to formally apologize to the people of the United Kingdom for endangering all your lives today when I so recklessly (but accidentally) tried to bring a snowglobe through airport security in my carry-on. Please rest assured that it was confiscated and is no longer a threat. The skies are safer now.

My contribution to the @atpfm@mastodon.social convo on bifurcated Messages threads: I have a friend who's in Argentina, and her phone number in Contacts is e.g. +545555555555. She used to have Android so the thread started as SMS. When she switched to iPhone, her "canonical" iMessage number was auto-registered as +5495555555555 with a trunk prefix of 9. It automatically converted the Messages thread and usually works but if I ever make ANY update to her contact, it splits the thread in two until I reboot!
