@tpaau17db @gael Ok let's be more specific. I claim "they invented nothing when they released Android". They may have invented things later. Regarding whether it was a move to buy the market: tell me what other product they gave as an opensource project for free for people to make money from? Finally, I do agree with you that proposing a moving fork of Android makes it hard to say you don't need them. As an /e/os user, I'd rather stop having new features than depending on Google updates.

@tpaau17db @gael not really, they gave Android for free to phone manufacturers to ensure they own this market, actually killing alternatives. They invented nothing and just bought the market. We would have Maemo and/or FirefoxOS on our phones without Google monopoly, so no, we don't need them.

Ça parle de dépendance (au sens addiction) et de dégradation de la satisfaction de faire ce métier mais aussi de l'impossibilité de sortir de ce modèle.

Ça parle aussi de la crainte de ne plus être pertinent si on ne l'adopte pas.

Et je pense que c'est la clé : le manque de confiance en soi qui pousse à se conformer à la norme.

@fanf42@social.treehouse.systems I read once again about Spain and it seems to me that solar was part of the problem, but it probably accounts for a small part only. The french wikipedia article seems to concur with what I read here https://bsky.app/profile/aukehoekstra.bsky.social/post/3lrsvpse6ns2i last year. And about "being sure China does not control your inverter", well, no network means no control I guess. But we could drift to our dependency to foreign technology for IT, and then I'm not sure any other part of the grid is safe, don't you think?

@fanf42@social.treehouse.systems @greenpeace@mastodon.social every inverter I know can work offline, I don't get how it's not giving you autonomy. An installed panel is no longer a dependency to the provider unlike fossil or nuclear fuel. And regarding Spain, the blackout was mostly due to fossil electricity plants not respecting the contract they have with the grid operator.
