I think early platform vibe is just in absence of this having happened (yet).
But I suspect the curation algorithms have a lot to do with what culture/norms can consolidate, because they're implicitly selection pressures for content.
Reduced visibility of engagement metrics also reduces cloud chasing & ...weirdmageddon stuff?

I wouldn't define it by intention vs everything either, I was a bit loose - it was to show how your comment on "intended" links to *intentionality*
"Intentionality is the power of minds to be about something"
Our minds like to make representations of certain systems that centrally are about a notion of "desired/teleological" outcome, distinguished from "side-effects".
"Pen and paper" just means "algorithmically describable" or "representable in our conceptual model"

Ah! Thanks for raising this, if you don't mind I'd like to point to this difference in view as exactly typical of the discourse.
The deflated notion of computation is simply a means to understand/describe how information/states/ontology changes systematically. E.g. t0 input -> t+ output functions.
A priori, this (physical/causal) process/function is primary.
The extra constraint of it having a goal, is an additional imposition by - as you note - *intentionality*.
