Latest #NixOS infuriating moment: Canonical's Git server is down and that means I cannot update because some random package fetches source from freaking Canonical for some reason, and is listed as unfree (despite Canonical listing it as GPL) so it isn't cached.

Ok so a bit of a theory here:
Is Splatoon raiders a metaphor for colonialism?
* We're going and invading their homeland to get treasure
* We're doing "research" on the salmonids and their behaviour, as well as the artifacts that we seem to be stealing from them
* But the descriptions of the artifacts are pretty consistently wrong most of the time, and every time we find a new piece, the description changed dramatically.
* Therefore, what if our final descriptions of them are wrong too and we don't actually understand the artifacts at all?
* And by extension, what if our understanding of Salmonid culture is also entirely made up bs?
* Canonically, the salmonids "want to be eaten and take steps to make themselves maximally tasty", but given the inaccuracies or our artifacts analysis, this could also be made-up BS to justify our slaying of them.

My battle against Slack's autostart shennanegins is finally won!
The problem:
I set Slack to auto-start on my system, which works once. When Slack starts, it then deletes the autostart file, and tries to simlink it to `/usr/share/applications/slack.desktop`, a file that does not exist on NixOS. If I disable the autostart option in Slack's settings, it will instead remove its entry from the autostart directory on startup. Either way, it autostarts once, then breaks itself.
The solution:
I fixed its autostart script, and then chowned it to be owned by root. It can't overwrite it now. And the only downside is a few extra lines in their error logs!
