@ezri@shitpost.trade you look for the source of their denim mostly, if they provide it you can check. if they don't then it probably isn't. unbranded has no sources, so it is mostly what is available and cant be guaranteed. but selvedge is a big indicator, it means it was made on a shuttle loom instead of the mass produce looms so it is denser and more thoughtful in its construction.

@ezri@shitpost.trade basically raw selvedge and high quality denim are what people target who are enthusiasts because they fade and wear really nicely and dramatically, and last longer and can be repaired better. and then you get into the japanese luxury brands and they just do a bunch of weird shit with denim that most people don't care about like texture, slubs, naps, etc.

@ezri@shitpost.trade if you want heavy denim unbranded is a good entry point they have japanese selvedge raw denim but its pretty cheap. they are the cheaper naked&famous brand (which i have for my other jeans) the studio d'artisan i showed you is one of the osaka 5, so they are expensive by default
