@tinker Are you sure that this is an accurate account of history? I think a big reason we didn't see widespread "fuzzy" search earlier is because we just didn't know how to make it work well. Simple keyword search is much easier to implement, especially at scale. And even then you had and still have many aspects that are still far from precise and very much heuristic, like the ranking of search results. Of course a few idealized problems admit "precise" algorithms (like PageRank) but that's it?

i agree that this is terrible behavior from linkedin. still, it must not be exaggerated what's going on: it's limited to installed extensions in the browser, specifically those that expose assets to websites.

@OlivierBurnier @brunomiguel If you use a clean Chrome install without any browser extensions, there is nothing for them to detect. I believe incognito mode might also work.

However, there's something I don't understand.
What's the problem with posts proofread by AI, though, assuming we're talking actual proofreading here (spotting mistakes, as opposed to stylistic advice)? Why would it matter whether a typo was found by a friend of yours or some large probabilistic model?
