@mellifluousbox@mastodon.social Yesterday I saw two posters for concerts by local bands next to each other. The first was the worst kind of MS Word abuse I have seen in a very long time. Uncounted differing fonts and sizes, colors, pixelated images etc. Next to it was a smooth and shiny one obviously generated by AI. I never would have thought that the day would come were I'd praise the Comic Sans ugliness of the first one. On your question: I do. But I politely (!) tell them because many still aren't aware.

@bastilian@mastodon.social That might be a bit cynical, but to me it seems as if the difference being that one feels like helping colleagues do their work better who might be competing for the same job, while the others sole reason is giving orders to a (mildly put) subordinate that is making your own work easier.

@maccath@phpc.social @adactio@mastodon.social I just looked it up and it is basically all the same here in terms of price, time and bureaucracy involved. I just never really though about it much because I was lucky enough to always having had a passport and only ever had to renew it as a working adult who doesn't care too much about 112€ every ten years. TIL. Thanks!

@maccath@phpc.social @adactio@mastodon.social Interesting. We also didn't have photographs on the social insurance cards until recently, but added it because apparently that caused too much fraud. So you have ID, but without a photo, but it is still not required for voting?

@maccath@phpc.social @adactio@mastodon.social In Austria you need to be identifiable to vote, but it can even be someone knowing and confirming your identity AFAIK. But I definitely cannot just walk in and vote for any name I say. So I just read a name from the postbox of a building, go there in the early morning and have an extra vote? I mean I am also very anti government data hoarding, but having a way to identify a citizen feels like a basic need. How does that work going to the doctor? Or opening a bank account?

@maccath@phpc.social @adactio@mastodon.social That makes sense if there really are that many voters who do not have any formal proof of their identity. But that alone sounds unbelievable from an Austrian perspective. With personal ID cards, passports, social insurance cards, driving licenses or certificates of citizenship I think I've never met a person who doesn't have at least one formal way to prove their identity. But I might have a privileged blind spot here.

Whoever came up with this idiotic idea of implementing Emoji reactions in Outlook that send an extra email response with nothing but an emoji for everyone else deserves to get at least an occupational ban. 🙄

@ennopark@mastodon.social @tante@tldr.nettime.org Dass es die Ausnahme ist sehe ich auch so, aber genau das ist ja so verwunderlich wenn ich die ursprüngliche Nachricht oben richtig lese. Dass beim Vibe-Coden Erwartungshaltung und Realität auseinanderklaffen wie der Grand Canyon ist wieder eine andere Sache. Und auch da müssten Anforderungen klar formuliert werden. Je genauer man das macht desto näher kommt man an das was Programmierer bisher auch gemacht haben: Vage Anforderungen in (Programm-)Logik umwandeln können.

@dvk Still in doubt. I've been to pretty much all of them but in recent years I felt WCEU (in contrast to our local WCVIE) was less and less fun and community feeling and more and more annoying politics and ice cold business.

@joost No, why? I think creating hidden CPTs is much more exotic than public ones. But while we're at it I'd rather completely remove it. It is basically just a shortcut to group-set the sub properties. But a lot of developers don't get that and check it instead of e.g. going for publicly_queryable and is_post_type_viewable() causing all kinds of havoc for CPTs with uncommon combinations like publicly_queryable=false but show_ui=true
