i think i'm just gonna walk away from social media for a bit. don't know how long, but...
lately when i'm here, i feel more depressed and socially isolated than if i was alone with my own thoughts. it stopped sparking joy a while ago, and it's started to grate at me again. too many reminders of my own regrets and mistakes.
hope it's at least better for you out there

from the post: My friend that works at Lockheed Martin had a group of Japanese defense representatives touring the plant. While on lunch he heard them arguing over whether King of the Hill is better subbed or dubbed. One even said "Japanese doesn't express the essence of the characters like English does" this basically confirms that King of the Hill is in fact Texas anime.

if you could trade away the potential ability to change the timeline in more than small personal-scale ways, in exchange for the ability to peer anywhere and anywhen in history...
would you take that deal?
at the risk of getting flamed, i'll say this:
systemd isn't that bad nowadays. dbus isn't that bad either.
monolithic? maybe. but they're also standardized entrypoints for whatever you want to do that more or less work, unlike the pile of shell scripts that came before it
it seems like it had the potential to become an even cooler kinda place than fedi, but ultimately depending on a central dev team and funding absolutely fucked everyone involved.
and this is a tragedy. i can laugh in linux/foss all i want but that doesn't change the fact that people like me were seriously hurt by the space shutting down.
