QuickMail 0.8.37 is available with a host of new features and bug fixes. Adding an account now asks three questions instead of ten. You choose what each message list row says out loud, and in what order. You can watch a conversation and have future replies collect in one folder. There is a native build for ARM PCs and more. This one is a pre-release: please download and install it yourself. Automatic updates will not offer it yet. https://github.com/kellylford/QuickMail/releases/tag/v0.8.37

@davetaylor2112@someplace.social Have you tried using first letter navigation for example W for Wednesday and things of that nature?

The other good news that will hopefully be helpful over time, it that my Windows apps will now be code signed. Eventually you should stop getting the notifications from Windows about an unknown application.

If you use my WeatherFast app, I have an update for the Windows version that adds a lot of the functionality that has been added in the iOS version since January. https://github.com/kellylford/WeatherFast/releases/tag/windows-v3.0.0 I'm trying to keep the features aligned but the user experience is different in a Windows desktop app versus an iOS app. This also has a full installer and options for getting updates.

Quickmail 0.8.33 with comprehensive calendar support for Google, iCloud and Microsoft is available. Please see the full release notes for this and previous releases at https://github.com/kellylford/QuickMail/releases I've obviously tried to ensure the calendar support both from usability and appointment management perspectives is high quality but this is a large area so I suspect there are issues.

I know a number of people asked me how my basic GHManage tool compares to FastGH. From my quick trial, FastGH has a UI experience that is further along and far more functionality and seems like a good program. It appears the project accepts contributions so I'll likely see about contributing the few things I found that GHManage does that I don't find in FastGH just now. Like I said, my web search didn't turn anything up but clearly it missed this program.

I'm also not looking to replace tools like GitHub Desktop here. I made this mostly to help with my own productivity and will continue to tinker with it. Issues, contributions and such are welcome. I have no grand plan for this app though beyond just adding things as I need them or someone asks. And again, if I'm missing something let me know but I can say in the couple days I've been using this, it has saved me loads of time already.

One cool feature I added is whether you are viewing an issue, a commit, a branch, a workflow or pretty much anything else, pressing f on that item makes it a favorite. You can pick your list of favorites just like any other repo and then arrow through those items and they can be from various repos. If I've missed the party and all this functionality is already available in a user friendly app (not a CLI or web app, feel free to let me know. Not looking to reinvent the wheel as the saying goes.

You need to have the GH command line tool on your system and authorized for my app to work. My app also has some interactive functions for repos where you have access. For example, you can change the state of issues, comment on them, schedule workflows to run, download artifacts from a completed run and more. You can also provide the URL to any public repo and use the app functionality there.

If you are a user of GitHub, a small app I made called GHManage may be of interest. I couldn't find a graphical screen reader friendly app for quickly viewing items such as issues, prs, commits workflow runs and more. I know much of this is available in GitHub Desktop and various VS Code extensions and probably other ways. My app basically puts all this in screen reader and keyboard friendly list-views and edit boxes. https://github.com/kellylford/GHManage/releases

Important To use this version, you should uninstall any older version. You should not lose settings or any other data.

This version has the infrastructure for automatic updates going forward along with the ability to turn such updating off if you so choose. The University of Washington has an opening for a Director of Digital Accessibility. This is one of those great jobs that do not come along very often to have a big impact at a place that is already one of the leaders in accessibility. (1/2)

Quickmail 0.7.8.1 is available with fixes for attachments not working properly to save or open, shift+F10 not working the first time it is pressed within the app and more logging of what the program is doing behind the scenes if you run with /debug. https://github.com/kellylford/QuickMail/releases/tag/v0.7.8.1 Pending any large issues, this will be the last release for a few days as I transition to a different install technology that will support automatic updating and add additional test coverage with such a change.

@samlitzinger Thank you for doing this. It is truly unfortunate that an institution with the history of CBS radio is disappearing but I sincerely appreciate you capturing this rich history.

@NikJov@mastodon.social @jscholes@dragonscave.space This is such a loss of functionality and annoyance throughout Windows. I've had this conversation with developers and program managers so many times and every time an app switches to a new framework we have to start over.

Well, the first beta of the Mac version of my Image Description Toolkit is available at http://www.theideaplace.net/projects/IDT-4.0.0Beta1Bld050.dmg. This allows you to use local Ollama models or Claude or OpenAI models with your own API keys. I wrote a blog post earlier talking about the release but the Mac version wasn't ready. That blog post is at https://theideaplace.net/introducing-idt-4-0-beta-1-an-enhanced-way-to-describe-your-digital-images/. You need Ollama installed as I say but for me on an M1 Mac this is describing images at about 6 seconds per image with Moondream and 31 seconds with Llava.

I have a sizable update to my image description tool kit. You can read more about the update and what is offered as far as image description technology using AI in this blog post. This is a Windows release, but I actually have a Mac release pretty much finished and just need to do a bit more testing. “Introducing IDT 4.0 Beta 1: An Enhanced Way to Describe Your Digital Images – The Idea Place https://theideaplace.net/introducing-idt-4-0-beta-1-an-enhanced-way-to-describe-your-digital-images/
