iOS 27 also includes experimental support for the aria-actions attribute. It has to be enabled inside Safari's advanced settings, under experimental features. In short, websites will be able to add custom rotor actions to any interface elements.

The Enhanced Clipboard Reading NVDA add-on now also has a new command, NVDA+Y, which will announce the number of characters on the clipboard. The number of characters will also be shown in the title of the browseable messages, for those who miss and like to have this information. The update will soon be live in the add-on store.

Check out my first NVDA add-on, Enhanced Clipboard Reading, now available in the add-on store! It enhances the NVDA+C command to read the clipboard, allowing you to configure the characters limit. After that limit, the clipboard contents will still be presented in a browseable message instead of not being read at all. Even when the limit is not reached, you can always manually open the clipboard contents in a browseable message by pressing NVDA+C three times quickly.

@Lynn @lexipic @Dennislong82 The last thing I'll say on this, the more you require from volunteers, the less volunteers you'll have. The beautiful thing about BME is that it is used by many people who are not very good with technology at all, and I'd hate driving them away.

We're not going to pretend like people read the terms of service or something like that, but those who do that are breaching the terms just as much as these people recording them.

@prism @Lynn @Dennislong82 @lexipic Oh I have no problem with that, if the actual person who was making that call reports it, and sends a link to the recording they've discovered, I'm sure they'll do something about it. I have an issue with the implication they can just solve this issue or do something drastic about it on their own.

For every person who recorded a call, there are millions of us all over the world, in non-English speaking countries who have no clue this is even happening. Enforcing contracts, verifying legal names/identity is very difficult if you want to be internationally available, we could translate this to sorry, but this app is now USA-exclusive, or limited to a few countries.

@prism @Lynn @Dennislong82 @lexipic This is no doubt a very serious issue for us, but compared to some of the content being posted on Tiktok, if you aren't familiar with it, all I'll say is you've seen nothing. That place is awful, and if anything, I wish something was done about the content being posted on there in general.

@prism @Lynn @Dennislong82 @lexipic I really don't know how is making significant progress quickly browsing through random Tiktok profiles to look for identifiable information, not to mention that it could just as well be your friend recording one of the calls, which wouldn't be linked to you in any way.

@app I was positively surprised when I got an update notice. I still use this client, mainly for its excellent Telegram support, and so glad you got the support for topics, that was one thing which really made me reconsider my client choice. On the Mastodon side, not sure what's up with that but when I updated, my list of posts simply showed empty items. I deleted and re-added the session, and now it's back to normal.

@jscholes@dragonscave.space Yep, that. First letter navigation is the particularly annoying one for me, it's like Microsoft for some reason forgot that was ever a thing. Whenever I hear that a part of Windows 11 is going to be redesigned I immediately go, oh great, now time to figure out which accessibility bugs we'll have to deal with and which conventions that worked for years no longer will.

@LWorksGames@tweesecake.social Woops, this seems to be a rather simple oversight, just got it by manually changing the link to point to judgmentdayfullsetup.exe which I remembered was the correct file name, so it should be a rather simple fix.

@cubic@vee.seedy.cc That's exactly what I was talking about, though good to know it covers those switches as well and not just the FN key hotkeys. If you spawn a narrator.exe process you'll have that feature with any screen reader running.

@pitermach@dragonscave.space The process that does this is "FnHotkeyUtility.exe". And, yep, it seems to be a simple narrator.exe check. I renamed a random application to narrator.exe, and that was enough to convince it Narrator is running, so not all that hard.

Just found out that Lenovo laptops have a very interesting accessibility feature. If Narrator is enabled, pressing FN+one of the function keys will actually announce what happened, i.e. Microphone muted, microphone unmuted, using your default SAPI 5 voice. The state of the FN lock feature will be announced as well. A real shame pretty much nobody will know this, since we don't actually use Narrator, and with NVDA or Jaws, the feature isn't triggered.
