@replytomaikel@mastodon.social Generally yes. One thing I noticed trying to reproduce this is that an /etc/hosts entry will take precedence. So if you have an entry in there for ripper at 127.0.0.1 then it may be coming in on the wrong interface if you're trying to use the shortname.
So you can either try the fqdn of ripper.tail-scale.ts.net (for whatever your tailnet's domain name is) or remove the hosts entry and try again.

@mc@toot.houbahouba.de @tailscale@hachyderm.io Thanks for the feedback. Wehn we were looking at these limitations, we were targeting it so that the majority of users won't see a restriction. Much fewer than 1% of free users have greater than 50 tagged devices.
That being said, the limit is currently a "soft limit" for existing tailnets, so there's no fixed deadline to change things. If that changes in the future, there will be plenty of communication
