I'd say 99%, ok maybe a bit less, will care about sideloading, etc and just use these machines for what they were designed for. I'd love to put some games on the orbit player but again, most users probably won't.

From the orbit reader manual, tips and tricks for the bard app, I've been saying this a million times, if you are to sell in a country where you know what language is primarily spoken, have someone that can speak that language natively proof read all of your documentation. Please please please. "Downloads need a working internet connection. Wi-Fi is simplest." Um, what other way did they expect people to use it? That ethernet port hidden under the battery door? *sarcasm*

So I didn't bookmark the page but there was a blind individual that wrote either a command line or GUI program, I don't remember, that allowed toggling of a bunch of windows settings, show file extensions, ETC ETC. Anyone know where that might be located? I am putting together a bunch of things to configure a machine with a fresh win11 install. So far I have windows debloat, open shell, explorer patcher, and a registry key to turn off the lock screen.

So finding the 8 textbooks for my wife's class is a fucking nightmare. Bookshare has all of them and she can use the webreader to read them on pc but she wants to use her phone too. Voice dream reader can download directly but it sucks when reading with any built in IOS voices. It will just crash or not play at all when play is pressed. Don't know if bookshare reader is any better. Oh and RFBD has 1 book, while audible has 5. Bard has none. I am trying to get them for free as I don't want her to have to purchase from anyone the university is partnered with. And this is only the first semester!

Last boost, I am hoping this is starting the final nail in the jaws coffin. This is a screen reader, think about that, a screen reader. If they didn't throw all the AI crapola in it in the first place, none of this would be needed. Remember, NVDA will never, ever require this. I hope the backlash is swift.

More on moving from IOS to android. It sounds like with low power mode on, the 9 A battery life will be pretty incredible. I can sideload any apps I want, eloquence, a replacement for voice dream ETC. I do facetime with my brother and someone at work calls me with face time audio so I am assuming that will be a problem?

I'd 100% purchase this if it was able to work with a bunch of settings blind individuals mostly turn off/on with a new machine, camera/mic for some things, animations ETC. I know a lot of that is personal preference though.

The cheaper braille buddy is quite ridiculous since in order to connect to Wifi, you not only have to buy some kind of Wifi adapter but the printer must connect to the adapter, the adapter connects to the router and both the adapter and printer must be plugged in.

All the other embossers I can find are $4000 or higher. Perhaps it is time for @BlazieTech@tweesecake.social to modernize the braille blazer, with a simple Wifi connection, similar to print printers, unlike the somewhat complicated current embossers. For between $2000 and $3000 it would sell like hotcakes.

I am 90% sure she has the Juliet pro. From the little I can find online about it, it is like 50 pounds. The newer romeo is $3300 which is bad but not as bad as I thought, about 16 pounds. The newer juliet is $3800, same weight but comes with tactile graphics software which she does not need. Wish I could find it without that or both a bit cheaper.

So this old bat who's laptop I am almost done moving her old stuff to has an old, it seems heavy as hell braille embosser with double talk speech on it. She has to disconnect her laptop, take it in to another room, connect with I think a USB to serial cable and pray it works. Saw the braille buddy embosser with wireless adapter is around $1800 which she can afford, anyone have experience with it? The adapter sounds like a pain in the ass to set up.

This lady on YouTube uses the Yamaha FGDP30 for all her drum tracks and here is a little groove just posted. Pretty decent if you ask me. This is exactly why I want one, so I can learn a new instrument and play similar stuff. If anyone wants to sell, please let me know.

Thinking about how awesome and exciting it was to get to play the classic Infocom text adventures back in the 90's. Ordering the classic masterpieces of infocom cd-rom by phone directly from activision before I had a cd drive because I just knew I had to get it or have a hell of a time finding it later! And I was right! Never saw it in a store. Going over to a family friends house and teaching them how to copy/paste as many .dat game files as a few floppies would hold just to play a few games. I had to choose wisely until I got a cd drive!
Anyways thinking about Planetfall and a certain room with Floyd the robot! Probably the saddest thing ever in a text adventure. If you know you know lol!
Oh and I forgot that in the first few moves of the game, you can get killed by a piece of celery! Now how cool is that?
