@gwynnion@mastodon.social I'm a programmer, and I know that's very bad. No one can review that much code daily. Productivity isn't meant to measured by LoC; sometimes, the best changes to a program have *negative* LoC: dead code elimination, refactoring to cut off duplicate functions or entire classes/modules. LLM-generated code just adds technical debt, before the code even goes to production.

@hazelweakly@hachyderm.io Add 15 years to the person's age if they take more than 5 seconds to figure out that one has to answer by swiping instead of by tapping. I had a hard time using TikTok and the like, the first time around, because of the swiping alone.

@cyllhu Good saying. :-) I'm mostly on the "mathematician" side, having a degree in it; and I also learned a bit of music theory at school, sang in a few choruses, and tried (unsuccessfuly) to play the guitar, long, long ago. Honestly, the xen wiki is too heavy on theory to me, either mathematical or musical. I just want to play tunes and explore harmonies on 53-ET.

@cyllhu I've seen the Xen Wiki page, and was overwhelmed with so much information. Now, re-reading it to find only modes, it got worse. ;-) Too many scales. I will try some. I didn't know about scaleworkshop, thanks for the tip. And yes, the intention is to write notes as n\53.

A #Microtonal #MusicTheory question: is there any research or experimentation about scales in 53-ET? For instance, here is a 13-note #scale in 53-ET (notes 0 to 52, 0 is tonic):
a=0 b=4 c=9 d=13 e=18 f=22 g=25 h=28 i=31 j=35 k=40 l=44 m=49 (a=53)
The differences, in steps, between notes, are 4 5 4 5 4 3 3 3 4 5 4 5 4, nicely symmetric.
How many nice-sounding #chords can be found in this scale? If one is allowed to bend some of the notes one or two steps (up or down), which other nice-sounding chords can be found?
Is there a site where I can assign arbitrary frequences to computer keyboard keys (53-ET if possible), and play some #tunes?

Maybe. The way the Bittorrent Protocol works though doesn't on its surface seem a good way to easily sync updates to the code base.

I agree with you that BitTorrent isn't a good choice for syncing updates; I was thinking of sharing whole repos. (Disclaimer: I know next to nothing about the BitTorrent protocol, just how to use a client)

For project distribution its fine, but management beyond that I don't know. Maybe someone knows better.

I hope so. Is there any source code management software, similar to what Github and Codeberg do in the web, but working in the local machine? Could leverage it.

@CWSmith@social.mechanizedarmadillo.com @nixCraft@mastodon.social Also: a BitTorrent-like sharing protocol, but for whole repos instead of files. Most repos are relatively small (less than 1 GB, most a tenth of that), so a typical computer or phone can mirror and serve several dozens of repos.
