Fun fact: no!
I mean, I’d argue the emoluments clause should apply here, because poly market isn’t limited to Americans, but given that the sources of counter bets are not really public, I can see why it might not. Damn, I guess the ToS of polymarket?

Oh, it’s definitely not normally a comparison of two different tweets’ ratios, that’s just what I’m gathering from this. Normally it’s the ratio within one tweet, though Wikipedia also notes that your interpretation is also now common.
I looked it up because you’re right that it’s not the intuitive meaning and I am really not a twitter person, and I found this article that feels like reading your middle school diary and seeing all the silly little problems you thought were so big.
It would be so nice to have a speaker like Paul Ryan today. I mean, not nice nice, just more manageable.

Yeah, most people have to occasionally hurt others, though I’m not sure how most people feel about it.
I believe that some people cannot coexist with others without being hurt (eg. imprisoned), but I don’t relish the thought, especially not in the context of war. If I could choose, I’d institute a gift-based Potlach system.
To be clear, I’m not being judgmental about this, I don’t think anyone should be judged for their thoughts, I just don’t have those thoughts.

Or feral, tbh.
Gender expectations for afabs in high school are _unhinged_. A “friend” once made me feel bad because I carried fat in my breasts, just because she was insecure about having smaller breasts than I did. I didn’t even want them at all, but somehow I got shamed for them not being good enough.
The most baffling part is that I didn’t get my period until 17, so at no point during high school did I even have a bust for her to get jealous about, I was just a little chubby.
I was also regularly called a man for not plucking my pretty tame eyebrows and getting fake tans. I’d say that they might have been picking up on my egg status, but I’m pretty certain that’s not the case. Man, I hated high school.
(Sorry for the stilted terminology- I don’t feel comfortable using any word to describe 17 year olds’ chests, it turns out.)

Ehh, Jesus isn’t a super uncommon name.
When I was a little kid, we got a Christmas card from the newspaper delivery boy (I swear I’m not that old, but that sounds ancient), signed “Jesus.” My mom was a devout Catholic and got offended at what she saw as tip-motivated blasphemy. My dad let her cook for a bit, until she made to call the newspaper, then he delicately suggested that it was probably pronounced with an “h” sound. My mom probably sounds pretty unpleasant from this anecdote so far, but she laughed her ass off at herself for not thinking about that possibility and felt very sheepish about it.

0.5% strongly approve, rounds up to 1%. 39.5% somewhat approve, rounds up to 40%. The proportion of people who, to varying degrees, approve is then listed as 41%, because otherwise people would see it as them saying 1+40=40.
People are going to say they don’t understand math either way, so they just need to pick a convention and stick to it.

To be fair, they’re not entirely equivalent. I wouldn’t bristle at all at being called “an American,” but I would never call someone “a Chinese.” In the plural form with a definite article, it doesn’t feel as bad, but I’d probably prefer to say “Chinese people,” whereas “American people” feels a little clunky, though it’s probably the best option if you want to keep both terms the same.
I don’t think this is necessarily a racist thing though, because I’d probably tend to say “the English/ french/ spanish” and “Guatemalans/ Nigerians/ Tibetans.” Demonyms are definitely a weird area of language that feels biased when you see a direct comparison though.

It’s definitely too strong a (sweet) flavor for me, but I just dislike adding sweet sauce to savory things. I also find barbecue and teriyaki sauce unpleasant for the same reason.
Chilies and spices are fine by me though, and tbf, I wouldn’t ever describe ketchup as spicy.

Good management is just good people skills. If you don’t have them, intentionally defanging your speech/correspondence helps prevent blowups. Unfortunately for people working under managers with bad people skills, this doesn’t actually make up for and mostly just highlights their managers’ deficits.
Tl;dr: management speak is intentionally harmless in and of itself, but is an obvious symptom of bad management.

You know your dad better than I do, but the vast majority of parents don’t want to hear those. It would hurt my father quite a bit emotionally to have to hear about the times that he wasn’t there to protect me (he was an incredibly present father, nothing to do with being a deadbeat).

For some reason, subtitles are terrible, but if you plug a couple of pages into deepl, it’s pretty understandable. You need to clean it up a little, but that’s pretty easy. I am a language teacher, and actively have to design assignments so that my students can’t just plug them into deepl, because it renders them pointless.

Right, right, I forgot. Germany has zero welfare for its people, and exclusively spends taxes on supporting Israel and billionaires. What valid information you’ve shared! Too bad that there’s no healthcare, food, or housing support for community members.
Or wait, maybe I’m not the one burying my head in the sand…
