Encountered a first today.

I made a coil with about 50ft of 24 AWG wire.

Attach to LCR, L=OL, switch to R_dc, R_dc=5Mohm.

My guess is there is actually a physical break in the wire I can't see, and the enamal is acting as a series resistor holding the wire together.

@deprecated_ii@poa.st I quite like the idea of "meta programming"... for some reason. So I've jumped at the chance to produce better code, with meta programming. But, every time I ended up factoring it out. AI code is like that too. Because the AI is going to inject all sorts of strategies and concepts, every time it touches the code. And, at some point you'll want to replace that with something clean and simple.

@deprecated_ii@poa.st I did a dub of a manga, and it took like, multiple times longer, than doing the voice acting myself xD To get the words right, to get the pauses right, to get the timing right. To get it to sound like something worth lessening to. Honestly, I'd expect it to be farther along. And, that was using one of the top recommended services, and not like, Piper LibriTTS P5029, which I use to get through very long fedi documents or articles.

read some romance manga today. It is interesting, because there is almost always romance in Isekai and fantasy. I've been reflecting on just what the difference is, and I think I can summarize it. In a modern slice-of-life romance story, there is profound emptyness. Often the male and female lead spend the majority of their time doing busy work at school, or busy-work at a job. The whole promise is that, gaining some sort of romantic relationship will bring meaning to the futile grind of their life. But, it is a false promise, which means the relationship cannot stabilize, and, if it does, then the series immediately ends. Because at that moment, the false promise is broken, and the crushing futility of their life takes over. By contrast a good Isekai or Fantasy story, as step one, breaks the shackles of slavery placed upon the modern man. He too finds romance, and it can be like a meal eaten often. Without the false promise, it can be both sweet, filling, and is just part of the story. I think that is why people hate those kinds of stories, because they have internalized being a slave.

The amateur: It is not uncommon for people to immediately kill themselves after their first weekend meditation retreat. They do a 12 hour session, and they go step in front of a bus or off a bridge. There are other forms of injury including the feeling of electricity racing up and down the spine. And, people who enter into meditation injury get gaslighted, because it is an industry, and no one wants to admit that there is any danger. Much like yoga, meditation is a tool with a very specific spiritual outcome. But, people are encourage to practice both without understand the change they will under go.

@deprecated_ii@poa.st Sometimes, not two days ago I was trying to tune something below 100pF, and all I had was 100pF capacitors. So I put them into series on the bread board, and it only got lower by piny bits. I'm doing a lot of stuff with induction coils of different shapes and designs, and wire thicknesses. I do put rectifier/capacitor-bank stuff on breadboards. Usually it is just a matter of, the wires from the induction coils wont reach the table, or need to be moved. So, gator clips feel really nature there. Once I get a design finalized, I certainly plan on getting everything good, clean, and compact with terminal blocks and wire crimps. My lament about the gator clips is, I want the capacitor as close to the coil as possible when they are tiny. 3 or 4 wires at a single gator-clips intersection takes, lots of fiddling or multiple clips, which was frustrating when I needed to rapidly change the caps to adjust resonance windows. Now, my research suggests that, I kept having to adjust the caps, because I wasn't using a full-bridge of diodes for a SiC Schottky resonate rectifier. So, I probably wont feel as passionate about it when I have a change to confirm that xD

@deprecated_ii@poa.st during my experiments, I started by soldering everything... and quickly realized that was impractically slow xD So, I've been using gator-clips a lot, and to great effect. But, they are not good for multiwire connections. I was thinking of getting some brass the manage complex intersections. I could also use terminal blocks, but I don't really want to mangle the diodes and transistors to get them to pan the gap in a terminal block.
