The only way to make people pay the absurd prices that are necessary, is only possible if enough people totally depend on it. Also, utilizing gambling addiction has been a thing in Big Tech for a very long time now.

Right now, Google is sort of a gateway to get to information somewhere else on the internet, but often you still have to go there. With this, Google is (trying to be) the gateway to information, period. Without sources, you have to rely on what Google tells you. They control what's the "truth" for many people. Add the possibility to tinker with said output.
