But not being allowed to deal with one problem because a different, yet related and admittedly larger problem exists is still an odd argument. ‚You are not allowed to dislike Oranges, because we already have Apples in the basket!‘ is just whataboutism. Multiple problems exist at the same time. Not having another shitty sponsors logo on every future Blender event is in my eyes a win. Especially since more people now look at the blender foundation due to this.

Meshy as a sponsor still sucks. But they didn’t go for the largest tier to use it as a stunt to introduce a new integration in order to sell more shitty subscriptions and pose as a holy guardian angel with a Blender Press Release and their logo being paraded on every future Blender event. And hey - the foundation still received blood money.

@dianaprobst@mastodon.art @Blender@mastodon.social To be fair: This donation does not mean that every change of code at Blender from tomorrow on will be "in favor of Anthropic and their hunger for every bit of information on the planet." It just killed Blenders integrity for now. But a change in update-strategy these days is adviced: Check what's being changed, what's being fixed and if you truly need the update on day one. If not, wait at least for a week or so and see what the consensus of the user-base says.

@McsaMatt @reece @pluralistic Buy second hand from early adopters. Buy only the models that are feasible to repair. Accept that every piece of hardware is already outdated when it hits shelves and adjust your expectations: Stay a generation or two behind and you’ll still get the work done for a reasonable price while reducing e-waste. Win-win.

@grumpygamer Just call it NPC systems or NPC behaviors. More accurate and avoids confusion. And "AI" still is just LLMs / machine learning. All "A" without the "I". So I refuse to call that crap AI either.
