It hurts to hear people talk about rewind in such a light and especially in this super stressful time where I'm working basically nonstop to move out of the building with little more than a group of immediate friends and rewind members. It feels hard to respect and honour the history of the space while packing it down when there's no one around who has been a part of the space longer than I have. I don't want to misconstrue that I hold it against people for not showing up, but it does make me sad to still feel like all of the "animal house" era folks couldn't imagine showing up alongside the "rewind" folks. I'm just really tired and definitely burning out. We tried really hard to make the space survive into the future and ultimately we're being kicked out by the decision of one random guy we don't even know anyway. I'm feeling pretty nervous about being at the gig on the 26th and the sort of sentiment people will have, I'm feeling very tender and a lot of loss as everyone is. end of rant.

I'm really tired of the narrative that Rewind killed "the space that I loved so much". By the time rewind came into existence, the space they loved so much was already so far from alive. There was no group cohesion. No shared responsibility. No organisational structure. The punk gigs everyone knew us for were burning out the few of us that actually had any time or energy to put into the space, let alone improve it or offer any other kind of thing to the community. Not to bag on the history or the prior organisers of the space, I'm immensely inspired by and respectful of the history and impact of animal house and I wasn't there to say what it looked like in the pre-2021. But 2021 onwards, as a mixed use space and a community space, there were no structures, no community support and no plan for a long-term approach to sustaining our outputs. If I was going to continue to be there I needed it to be a group effort and that's what I fought for. I'll leave out arguing my validity as a punk but for many it seemed like my insistence that anarchy didn't mean we couldn't create structures for ourselves meant I was arguing for something other than what they bargained for. It felt like once people were being asked to take responsibility and work together to make the space safe, functional and sustainable, that's when people got a bad taste in their mouth. I'm in no way saying I went about arguing my case in the most understanding way either, but I did try to be. the rebrand was intentional to provide a conceptual bridge to say "we're doing things differently now" but it was never meant to be the end of gigs and parties in the space. Over the few years rewind has existed we've done so many awesome things and made existing in the space a lot cosier. Run dozens of events that I'm super proud of and will look back on for the rest of my life. 1/?

Congratulations everyone! We did it! We made the last new thing we'll ever need!

2027 is going to be the year of no more new stuff. From here on out we can just fix and repurpose the stuff we already have, no need to ever worry about going to a "store" ever again!

We'll be progressively discontinuing the concept of a "product" over the next 6 months, please don't be alarmed!

This little deck of cards project marks the halfway point in my responsive web design cert on freecodecamp! I have attempted to finish this cert so many times in my life but this is definitely the most concentrated effort I've put into finishing it! It's nice to have a little game-like skill I can lean into when I want something to stimulate my brain without bombarding myself with useless video information!

Had to go on Instagram today for the first time in a very long time. That shit is more than 50% ads??????
It used to be for every 3 posts you'd get 1 ad but it's actually closer if not more like 1 to 1 now. on top of that, posts made by ppl who you're following (if you're even following them!?!) have to make their posts feel like an ad to capture your attention too????

How does anyone put up with this junk????

@jadehopepunk could the protocol spec itself fall under the Reticulum License? Making it so any Reticulum implementation would have to use said same license? edit: MIT allows re-licensing if you wanted to fork, understand ur frustrations though!

I had this solarpunk daydream of a future where people make big atmospheric waste collection hot air balloons and that there's a global day of direct action where the balloons get launched all over the world to go up, catch space junk and bring it back down to earth

as the sun sets the sky gets lit up with all the balloons burning up as they fall back to earth with their space junk entangled. and then once the burning is done, the stars are just a little bit brighter once more <3

Idk anything about atmosphere science or if a balloon could get up that high but it's a nice dream to hold in the face of the sad reality we are entering into of increasing satellite pollution.

there are so many fights to fight but the fight over the night sky has to be one of the saddest ones yet.

I have such important memories and feelings about life that come from looking into the night sky.

The night sky gave me perspective that I am small and silly and here to love and enjoy myself, and that curiosity doesn't need to be extractive and that the possibilities for things to look at, up or down, are endless.

I hate how humans can measure success by how much we separate ourselves from natural systems.
