I have complicated and polarized feelings about AI. When it is used to replace creativity and the according work involved, it takes away humanity. Both in the making and the receiving. We have enough trying to take that from us without the extra help.

Discovering that two-prong outlets with tested fully pathed metal box and conduit back to the panel ground can be swapped out for 3-prong without much hassle.
Happily seeing slow but measurable progress in getting the dust to settle on our household shake-up.
Having the energy and time to take on daily projects to incrementally improve our space and set us up for good things in the future.

@moira@mastodon.murkworks.net do you mean on my companion? I'm using the official build from meshcore.io for the heltec v3. And no... I mean I can change the power setting, but it won't change the output power. It is already at max for the device.

@tezoatlipoca@mas.to @TheJen@beige.party Silent Generation minority lower-middle class parents who are already gone, and I feel lucky we didn't get any debt much less anything significant of value in inheritance. The best they really could do is pay off their houses and break almost completely even. That was a lot for them. And I feel like that's not even a place I'll manage.

@sus Early on when we learned that CO2 levels correlate nicely with COVID risk, I had unintentionally left my CO2 meter powered on when I was driving home from work, and I didn't make it 5 miles when it started screaming at me and I realized how bad it was to have my ventilation system set to recycle instead of letting in fresh air. The difference was shocking.

As much as I love this house, and how it works for us, it might actually be time to start figuring out how to get into a more permanent place with freedoms to be a little more radical with the space and the infrastructure.

Our house tends to be dark, but part of that is keeping out the riff raff since we live on an arterial. Part of it is the need for total darkness to sleep, so we have meticulously tucked and pinned blackout curtains for the bedroom that don't really work well to open and close. That means my bedroom is very dark 24/7. Hard to keep plants that way. And I really miss plants. We also have a kitty, so even getting plants is a trick particularly since she definitely likes to graze. I have a pothos that I try to keep away from her that she abuses (and I'm sure it abuses her back).

I dunno. We're in for some upheaval later in the year and it might help me figure some workarounds out in the current space. We'll see. Feeling a little restless about it.

@TechConnectify "It's Christmastime. Not the Enchantment Under the Sea dance." G-guess you guys aren't ready for that. And your kids are gonna hate it. Tru-Tone bulbs are amazing. I was reminded this year of the larger bulbs that I grew up with, and went digging and found the Tru-Tones and they are great! (And now I don't have to worry about the tree being cooked all season by the Easy-Bake incandescents!)
