I am me. Mostly a lurker and boost content I enjoy and occasionally and up posting, mostly replies more than original content. Have been programming for 20 something years now and am now slowly learning Rust in my free time. Also dabble in Home Assistant and have written a few custom integrations. @0xabad1dea@infosec.exchange i’ve seen this before where it’s a (poor) attempt at preventing link previewers as well as trying to ensure it’s someone actually visiting the site rather than a crawler or bot. background: I implemented something similar back in the day when the internet was a little simpler and you were really trying to track real clicks in email for marketing and such and to stop Gmail from grabbing private information. In the age of today’s internet I’m not sure it works as well

@mcc@mastodon.social I feel this so much I never realized how much I relied on color to convey information until Visual Studio changed from color icons to muted shades of gray. I believe this happened around the same time the menus started shouting at you with all caps. My productivity tanked for a bit while every toolbar icon was still in the same spot the lack of color made it hard to find the debug start/stop buttons and the like.

@briankrebs I don't think it's an adblocker issue in this case, if I go directly to the url of an image I get a 403. Though I do use ublock origin on firefox. However, I am using a Mullvad VPN connection so I can test that out later. What's strange is I can visit the site fine and your image is listed as a suburl based off your main site, so it's not like an obvious CDN that would be blocking it.

@briankrebs went to look at it and all of the images are failing to load for me? For example, I get back a solid 403 Forbidden for https://krebsonsecurity.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/openclaw.png The rest of the site loads fine, just images are blocked.

@tomhead@mastodon.social @marcoarment@mastodon.social The way I've learned to remember it is it has the same argument logic that cp and mv do, in that you can provide multiple sources to one destination, which puts the destination at the end. So I read it as ln -s
