@enthusiast101@fosstodon.org Yea, all of them do but it's especially tough because Aurora needs Google accounts unlike for example Invidious and Piped which essentially "just" need a ton of IP addresses.

Goodbye Fosstodon, I was here for three amazing years and this post is more to say thanks than anything else. All of you guys taught me how awesome social media can be and I will always remain thankful for that but it's time for me to move on. After watching the German Mastodon community grow for a while I finally want to participate so from tomorrow on I will be on Chaos.social! :)

@enthusiast101@fosstodon.org I mostly use my old Google accounts as spam mail adresses so it wouldn't be very important but I would create a new one for privacy reasons alone. Thanks for the heads up tho, fucking Google is getting worse by the day!

@aspublic@mastodon.world @brave@mastodon.social Now I have to check it out even more, let's hope we can develope solutions for Brave and DDG, no clue if Startpage adds their own index but I don't think so. The easiest one would probably be Searx and other decentralized meta search engines but to get on a level with Twitter that definitely won't be enough. Sadly Google, Bing and co. will probably never adopt any solution for the issue :/

@brave@mastodon.social You guys own a proper independent search engine and I love it so you seem like a good address for a question of mine! As far as I understand domains are king regarding search engines and that works really well for traditional social media sites but from my experience it kind of demolisches the searchability of decentralized alternatives like Mastodon and Lemmy, is that actually a thing and if so how could we solve it?

@powersource @aral At least one of the accused instance owners joined the alliance to block Meta shortly after and they denied the accusations, furthermore I wasn't able to find a proper source for the claim itself. I don't know for sure but I am quite sure it is fake and if it's not I am happy to read the source but we as community have to be more careful with claims like that in general!
