@Richard_Littler@mastodon.social Who could have predicted that a business where the more compute they turn on the more money they lose wouldn’t be sustainable?
I hope this is where the bubble bursts regardless of what it does to the market and the economy.

@molly0xfff@hachyderm.io As a long time supporter of you work, it seems unfathomable to me that people don’t know the grift behind WLFI but I guess that’s how he gets away with it. 🤯

@ianbetteridge@social.vivaldi.net Such an outstanding (debut) album. Still on my regular rotation all these years later 👴🏻

@jacob And in what year did the action become opposite buttons? I don’t doubt that having to make screenshots for Pogue had some part in it becoming a publically accessible feature, but he’s mis-stating history in his supposedly historical story.

@Migueldeicaza @ianbetteridge It seems to me that believing a chatbot inside a computer is conscious is akin to looking at a photograph and believing an entire miniature world is contained in there. I mean, it looks just like the real world, so it must be a real world, right?

@molly0xfff@hachyderm.io Are they following the typical crypto playbook of backing surefire winners, or can we look forward to at least some of this obscene spending going down the drain? Hopefully the mid term backlash is big enough that there are no surefire winners amongst the MAGA candidates but that’s probably just wishful thinking.

@molly0xfff I bet the bros thought that would be a great laugh but didn’t realize it would be on official documents

@TechConnectify This is contrary to the blurb on the Amazon replacements where the ‘other’ are made of paper whereas ‘ours’ are made of aluminum mesh with porous ceramic coating.
I might look for an ‘inferior’ paper one and see if I get better results. It only needs to last a few months after all.

@TechConnectify I’m not home right now, but it’s a Bryant smart thermostat with selectable humidity control, humidifying with heat or dehumidifying in the cooling cycles, so I think the switching should be fine.

@TechConnectify I think a better pad and making sure the water connection is wide open will be my first remedial steps.

@TechConnectify Thanks for the tip on replacement pad - I’ll look into that. I might also look at how difficult it would be to tap a hot water line instead of cold.
I think our furnace is appropriate but the ducts were oversized (lazy installers when the house was split into two systems) but I’ve corrected that this summer. The thermostat is also smart enough to run the fan alone when it’s trying to reach the humidity set point but it just doesn’t seem up to the job.

@TechConnectify Oooh. I’ll make time to watch this one closely. I have been very underwhelmed with our supposed whole house humidifier and it looks like it’s the same or at least similar to yours.

@czauner@social.vivaldi.net @molly0xfff@hachyderm.io I’m not particularly tech-savvy, at least not to the point where I’d know how to host a physical server at home. I just fear that giving my business to GoDaddy is no better than giving it to Zuck or Musk…

@molly0xfff@hachyderm.io Does that mean ultimately running our own server hardware though? Can we trust any of the popular hosting companies?
