The #conflation workflow in #JOSM seems extremely cumbersome. Can anyone tell me if I'm getting this right?

1. You have to manually zoom in on every single set of nodes you want to conflate, select one, click freeze, select the other, click freeze again
2. After doing this, selecting all the pairs, and pushing the Conflate button you then have to manually select which one of all the conflicting tags to use for every single pair. With no way of seeing which tag is old or new or automate anything

Trying to import a .csv into #JOSM I get this error message:

"No valid coordinates have been found"

The .csv has one column named xcoord and another named ycoord, and the coordinates are in these columns. What do I need to do to get JOSM to recognize these? Thanks!

Dear OSM community. I have a spreadsheet with a list of points which I need to #import into OSM.

The sheet includes names, coordinates, and relevant OSM tags (like amenity=bicycle_parking and bicycle_parking=shed).

But some of the points are already in OSM and should not be added.

Am I understanding it correct that #JOSM with the #conflation plugin would be the correct tool for this job?

Also, what would be the best tool for converting the .xlsx file to an OSM file?

Too bad there's no GUI for either installation or use. But it's a project done in someones free time, so I'm not complaining. Really cool tool for those smart/patient enough to understand how to use it. :)

@basil@sarcasm.stream Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear that. I find it quite easy to edit OSM over on openstreetmap.org, but sometimes I have to look things up in the wiki. Thankfully if you click on an item there's an option in the sidebar to go directly to the article about that kind of item.

What did you try to do, and where did you get stuck? I' love to help you see how easy and fun it can be, so you can fix up more stuff :D

This sounds like a good idea to me. A way for routing motors to find safer bike routes.

Hey. This is @forteller@octodon.social's new account for all things OpenStreetMap.

I want to gather links, info and thoughts relevant to OSM in a way that I can easily find it again when I need it, and also in a way that others can get some use out of it.

My main focus will be around things that are relevant for bicyclists. But also for pedestrians, users of wheel chairs, etc – what we in Norway call "myke trafikanter" ("soft road users").

I'm also interested in Humanitarian OSM and more.
