The specifc model was a zopid zmp-6. It seems that I just so happened to have found the exact same model with the exact same issue. Damn that really fucking sucks. Maybe you could find some retards who are lax on the rules but from what you are saying it sounds rather difficult. I guess you could also go for ssds as I have seen people who drill holes in the drives thinking that they erased the data that way but didn't realize the boards took up 20% of the chasis so it didn't actually ruin the drive but at the end of the day ssds are bad to use due to the read and write limitations.

I may dabble in there. One thing thats helped me with used marketplaces is to use vague search terms, sorting by highest price to lowest in all categories, then going to the last page and working backwards. One time I found an ipod video (classic 5th gen) on there being listed in the automotive category for 5$ doing that.
