@BasicAppleGuy@mastodon.social Yes! When people say the roundrect/squircle icon was designed for touch, remind them of Dashboard. I'm not sure of the official reason for roundrect icons in Dashboard. I always thought it indicated that widgets were simpler than apps. So then it made sense for iPhone icons too, since those apps were either widget-like or simpler versions of desktop apps. Simple icons for simple apps (Dashboard/iPhone), rich icons for rich apps (Mac).

@inket@mastodon.social Also tested on a fresh macOS install, it seems that Dock does not respect NSColorSimulatedHardwareEnclosureNumber for tinting apps/folders, at least on 26.3.1 Tahoe. Weird!

@inket@mastodon.social It appears to be stuck on 2021 green (int 4) which I had set with an earlier version of Accents. The Dock is the only area of the system not respecting the new color choice. What's interesting is if I delete the pref for NSColorSimulatedHardwareEnclosureNumber, the hardware color shown in System Settings reverts to that old green color too. Just can't figure out where it's getting that from.

@inket@mastodon.social Hi! Wondering if a previous version of Accents set any values other than NSColorSimulatedHardwareEnclosureNumber and NSColorSimulateHardwareAccent? The Dock seems to be stuck on a previous color value, and will not update even with restart/safe boot/etc. Thanks!

@pheonix@hachyderm.io I feel the same way but also think this change feels inexorable. What I don't understand is why humans are so eager to build a world not suitable for humans.
