Everyone loves to dogpile on systemd, but dracut is my nemesis. Is it nice that it's small? Yes. Does it make WAY TOO MANY ASSUMPTIONS? Also yes. I know the default filesystem of Ubuntu is ext4, but why won't you let me boot to an xfs filesystem I setup with debootstrap? Because some magic in dracut enforces the filesystem type, despite me overriding it in the config. So frustrating.
