@glow@blob.cat I bet you can't actually get the legitimately special one in smaller stores because they just have to stock the normal one by Elmex, and the normal one by Candida, and the normal one by Sensodyne, and the normal one from the store's own brand, etc, etc ...

Like, I understand that consumerism dictates that everyone can choose the one from their super special favourite brand, but even "my" brand has five different variants! If I'm diagnosed with "your teeth suck", do I pick the "extra sensitive" or "pro enamel" or the "care plus"?? And as always, all those different brands belong to just two megacorps anyway

Why does every supermarket stock fifty different kinds of toothpaste?

It's not like I'm all "oh yeah, I have type 4b teeth, so I'll need the one with extra Fuckoffodine". If there are genuine differences, I'm not qualified to choose between them.

They should figure out which kind of toothpaste is The Best One and just sell that one.

It still shows up in some recent-ish documents (like [1]), but a train driver I know showed me a screenshot of a document explicitly stating that this paragraph was made obsolete. It also doesn't show up in the current R 300.5 anymore.
