I was curious about the state of variable system fonts, and the best post i could find, was this one: https://fullystacked.net/posts/system-font-deep-dive/ Getting a complete list, also for android & linux, is no easy task. And i know about f-mods for regular fonts, probably also usable for variable fonts, but this gets very complex very fast. The only way i know, is to write font face declarations for every fallback font.

I looked through it and was asking myself: Do you know best practices about setting system fallback fonts for variable fonts (in the font-family declaration)? I did some research, but the examples i found use a simple sans-serif fallback. As some systems already have variable fonts, does sans-serif apply for a variable system font fallback? And i'm a bit worried about layout shifts for this case, while loading with the swap setting.
