Dukha people - The last reindeer herders in Mongolia | Full Documentary

The Dukha, originally from what is now Russia’s Tuva Republic, are among the world’s last nomadic reindeer herders. With shrinking herds, only about 40 families continued the tradition in 1998.

Their entire way of life centers on the reindeer, which they treat almost like family. Camps of a few households move across the taiga in search of grazing, and everyone shares herding duties—children included. Women milk the reindeer and make dairy products; men protect the herds in winter and craft tools and saddles.

Because they almost never slaughter their animals, the Dukha rely on hunting to supplement their diet. For them, the loss of the reindeer would mean the loss of their culture itself.

Kinski, Hezog and Re(s)training the Eye

These films are like hallucinations which seep through a rip in the fabric of time. Ghosts emerging from the mist swirling round the river head of consciousness. After I watched My Best Fiend at a friends place we emerged from the apartment to an oncoming rain storm. As the large drops began to fall I cycled fast through the forest to get home, everywhere my eye fell upon seemed wonderous. Green leaves holding water as they slowly bowed beneath the crystal weight. A plastic toy tractor left in a parking space in a full carpark. The playground deserted outside our home. Ín the documentary Herzog said he had trouble directing Kinski when the latter came to realize he was just a speck on the landscape and not the focus of the film image. The jungle, river, mountain were the stars of these films. The Kinski figures which gesticulate (á la Artaud) in the landscape, attempting to escape or master it are actually in a death struggle and are unaware of it. I think these films are important documents which witness the emergence of a new subjective state in the western ideal; I suppose one could say postmodernist but I think the term is fast becoming redundant. Perhaps posthuman is better:

My Best Fiend is a film about the love-hate relationship between director Werner Herzog and Klaus Kinski - utterly puzzling to others. It reveals the deep trust between two exceptional artists and their independently and simultaneously hatched plans to murder one another.

"Yet Herzog continued working with Kinski—they eventually made five films together—and in this, one can detect something of the perversity that impelled the director to drag a boat across a mountain in the first place. Herzog has never really been able to fully account for his and Kinski’s twisted reliance upon each other. He did pull from Kinski some astonishing performances—particularly in Woyzeck, a film basically composed of several long one-take sequences—but their working relationship involved serial pledges to kill each other. Kinski, who died in 1991, wrote in his autobiography that “I absolutely despise this murderous Herzog. . . . Huge red ants should piss into his lying eyes, gobble up his balls, penetrate his asshole, and eat his guts!”

The Tempest is a 2010 American film based on the play of the same name by William Shakespeare, featuring Helen Mirren in the principal role of Prospera. The film is directed by Julie Taymor and premiered at the Venice Film Festival in September 2010.

Although The Tempest received generally unfavorable reviews from critics, Sandy Powell received her ninth Academy Award nomination for Best Costume Design. Shakespeare's epic play is translated from page to screen, with the gender of the main character, Prospero, changed from male to female.

Apart from Russell Brand's over acting I think it is a fine work, comparable to Peter Greenaway or Derek Jarman but done with a greater attention to the fantastic possibilities of magical space.

Richard Linklater‘s low-key debut Slacker. He constructed the 1991 film as a series of set pieces — some irreverent, some meandering, and some bizarre, but most all of them with stealthily universal resonance — taking place across the college town of Austin, Texas. Douglas Coupland having coined the term “Generation X” with his eponymous novel less than four months before, the North American zeitgeist had come to take serious, if smirking, notice of all these slouchy twenty-somethings who seemed to turn up without warning, spouting endless streams of ideas, theories, wisecracks, and elaborate plans, yet drained of anything recognizable as ambition. These slackers, as we now call them without hesitation, make up the dramatis personæ of Slacker.

In May 1970, while awaiting the Simon & Schuster publication of The Lords & The New Creatures, and attracted by the chance to talk intelligently about something other than the music scene, Jim Morrison agreed to a "literary" interview with Tony Thomas of the Canadian Broadcasting Company. The interview took place at The Doors office in Los Angeles on May 27, 1970 and was partially aired on radio in Canada, but was never published.

Tony Thomas: Jim, relevant to your theory that people should get more involved in life and thus enjoy it more, you have written a line of poetry which reads, “the spectator is a dying animal”. Isn’t that a bit of a contradiction to what you’ve said previously?

Jim Morrison: No, it’s concerned with that same split between the actor and the audience. To me there’s something incredibly sad about a bunch of human beings sitting down watching something take place and just when you think about it, I love movies as much as anyone else, but the spectacle of millions and millions of people sitting in movie theaters and in front of television sets every night watching a second or third hand reproduction of reality going on when the real world is right there in their living room or right outside in the street or down the block somewhere, I think it’s a tool to somnambulize or hypnotize people into a kind of waking sleep. But I think the major influence in the next decade or so is going to be the people who are able to assemble masses, these huge masses of people into one spot as we’ve witnessed in pop festivals in the last two or three years, I think will be the major influences on mass culture in the next decade. I think the rock music enthusiasts have created probably some of the most exciting music and theatrical events on the planet. I think they’re fantastic.

Tony Thomas: Well, part of generation gap is the difference in what people like in terms of music. Now, this is something that distresses me a little bit, it seems that the young people like all the same kind of thing. Now I want more out of the young people than just that.

Jim Morrison: Yeah, well, they’re being programmed by their radios. They only play the major radio stations, rock stations only play 30 songs over and over and over 24 hours a day. And it’s been proven what you hear the most is what you like the most. So there’s really no choice involved. Someone is programming it.

Tony Thomas: So we are the victims of media.

Jim Morrison: What everyone should say is the medium is the message and the message is me. And that the answer is for everyone to… You’re asking for an answer, the answer is for everyone to stand up and say, I’m me and be fully aware of that fact and let everyone else know it.

Tony Thomas: Yeah.

Jim Morrison: That you are yourself and express it.

After recent viral videos, the ambient drone emitted from the freezers at a Sheffield branch of Co-op has now been turned into a 10-hour loop.

The sounds captured at the supermarket on Sheffield's Ecclesall Road have taken certair corners of the internet by storm, and beer noted for their soothing quality. The vira sensation oriqinated with a post in the Sheffield subreddit, where a user compared them to an "electrical gong bath", and suggested that people with field recording equipment should head to the store to capture the sounds for more people to enjoy.

Another post was shared a few weeks later alonqside a video, which made its wav to X and ultimately saw the whole phenomenon go viral.

Many of those engaged in the subreddit discussion about the freezer's sounds have taken to debating the notes that the fooc storage facilities are producing, with one poster even writing: "I think it's developed a slight discordant edge over the last couple of months. It's ageing like fine wine."

Reza Pahlavi (born 1960 and total Trump Fan Boy) seems to be the preferred option for the Americans and Israel for leading Iran. But in this short, carefully scripted and highly edited interview the subject of China (a close trading partner of Iran - the Chinese buy 30% of their total oil needs from Iran) does not come up. I believe this could be a problem in the future.

Note: the so-called "Pahlavi Dynasty" is only made up of two people. Reza's father, who was deposed in 1979 within the frame of the Iranian Islamic Revolution and his grandfather, a military commander who led a coup and was made Shah by the British, as they wanted to control the oil reserves of the region in 1925 (he renamed the country in 1935 - from Persia to Iran). It seems that Reza could be destined to fulfill the same purpose - accept Israel and allow for corporate control of the oil and gas that are currently nationalized in Iran.

US forces spent an estimated $779 million, or about 0.1% of the entire 2026 US defense budget, during the opening 24 hours of its offensive against Iran, according to estimates and data compiled by Anadolu, Anadolu reports.

The US’ CENTCOM confirmed that the massive deployment included B-2 stealth bombers, F-22, F-35, and F-16 fighter jets, A-10 attack aircraft, and EA-18G electronic warfare planes. The operation also utilized MQ-9 Reaper drones, nuclear-powered aircraft carriers, guided-missile destroyers, and Patriot and THAAD missile defense systems.

Four B-2 stealth bombers, flying non-stop from Whiteman Air Force Base in the US state of Missouri, struck targets using 2,000-pound (907-kilogram) Joint Direct Attack Munitions (JDAMs), according to CENTCOM. Known for high maintenance requirements and a 40,000-lb (18,143-kg) payload capacity, the B-2 operations alone accounted for an estimated $30.2 million, based on flight hours, maintenance costs, and munition requisitions data from the US Defense Department’s 2025 and 2026 budget requests.

CENTCOM’s buildup of various fighter jets of F-18s, F-16s, F-22s, and F35s contributed to the initial strikes, according to a post by CENTCOM on US social media company X. Before Donald Trump made the decision to attack Iran, the U.S. military chief Dan Cain is said to have warned about a shortage of ammunition.

The wife of the President of the United States, and trafficking victim Melania Trump humiliates herself on the world stage by chairing a United Nations Security Council meeting despite a total lack of diplomatic experience.

After calling the gathering to order with a bang of her gavel, Melania embarked on a string of rambling remarks that were ostensibly about how education is the key to "advancing tolerance and world peace." It was a truly Orwellian moment, coming as it does as her husband embarks on a war of naked aggression against Iran, a war that has already resulted in the bombing of a girls' school that killed at least 165 people.

"My heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their heroes, who sacrificed their lives for freedom," said Melania, referring to the American troops who have come home in coffins thanks to her husband's pointless and illegal war.

"Their bravery and dedication will always be remembered. I extend my earnest wishes for a swift and smooth recovery to all those who have been injured," she added. "You are in my thoughts and prayers during these challenging times. The U.S. stands with all of the children throughout the world. I hope soon, peace will be yours."

This is an unprecedented appearance by an American First Lady and yet another sign that Donald Trump prizes loyalty and proximity to himself over competence. In fact, this is the first time that the spouse of ANY world leader has been allowed to take the president's seat on the Security Council. It sends a clear signal to the world that the United States is now little more than a nepotistic, tinpot dictatorship.

The truth is that we've had countless brilliant, qualified, thoughtful First Ladies in the past who could have performed this role at the UN. Melania is not one of them. She wants to play-act as the master diplomat, but history will remember her as a spineless coward who enabled the worst abuses of her fascist pedophile husband.

The National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) is 100% owned by the Iranian government, with total assets estimated at US$200 billion as of 2023. It is one of the world's largest oil companies, with oil export revenues reaching approximately $53 billion in 2023, driven by high production, particularly to China.

According to NIOC, Iran recoverable liquid hydrocarbon reserves at the end of 2006 was 138.4 billion barrels. Apart from these considerable reserves, from the outset of oil industry in Iran in 1908 to the end of 2007, Iran produced some 61 billion barrels of oil.

Iran holds the world's second-largest proven natural gas reserves, estimated at approximately 34 trillion cubic meters (tcm) as of 2024–2026, trailing only Russia. A significant portion is located in the massive South Pars field, shared with Qatar. Despite its vast reserves, high domestic consumption and sanctions limit exports, though it supplies Turkey, Armenia, and Iraq. Expert estimates place the monetary value of these massive natural gas reserves between $5 trillion and $10 trillion USD.

The Americans are aware of this enormous untapped wealth source and they are on their way to secure it.

When US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth says:

He is clearly referring to the Iranian Hostage Crisis of 1979 - 80 (444 days. I was 10 and then 11years old and can remember the yellow ribbons the Americans tied around trees awaiting the return of their citizens).

The Iran hostage crisis (Persian: بحران گروگانگیری سفارت آمریکا) began on November 4, 1979, when 66 Americans, including diplomats and other civilian personnel, were taken hostage at the Embassy of the United States in Tehran, with 52 of them being held until January 20, 1981. The incident occurred after the Muslim Student Followers of the Imam's Line stormed and occupied the building in the months following the Iranian Revolution. With support from Ruhollah Khomeini, who had led the Iranian Revolution and would eventually establish the present-day Islamic Republic of Iran, the hostage-takers demanded that the United States extradite Iranian king Mohammed Reza Pahlavi, who had been granted asylum by the Carter administration for cancer treatment.

Notable among the assailants were Hossein Dehghan (future Minister of Defense of Iran), Mohammad Ali Jafari (future Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps), and Mohammad Bagheri (future Chief of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces). The hostage crisis contributed to a dramatic decline in Iran–United States relations. After 444 days, it came to an end with the signing of the Algiers Accords between the Iranian and American governments; Iran's king had died in Cairo, Egypt, on July 27, 1980.

The Mostazafan Foundation of Islamic Revolution (Persian: بنیاد مستضعفان انقلاب اسلامی) formerly Bonyad-e Mostazafan va Janbazan (Foundation of the Oppressed and Disabled or "MFJ") is a charitable bonyad, or foundation, in the Islamic Republic of Iran, the second-largest commercial enterprise in Iran behind the state-owned National Iranian Oil Company and biggest holding company in the Middle East. Mohammad Bagheri (Persian: محمد باقری; 1960 – 13 June 2025; born Mohammad-Hossein Afshordi;محمدحسین افشردی) was an Iranian military officer in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), who served as the Chief of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces from 2016 to 2025. The chief of staff is considered the highest ranking military officer in the Islamic Republic of Iran and is responsible for the coordination and supervision of Iran’s regular army (Artesh) and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Bagheri was killed along with other senior officers during a series of airstrikes launched by Israel on 13 June 2025. He was the highest ranking military officer in Iran at the time of his death.
