I am so disappointed to see so many people I used to respect continue to lie and misrepresent just because it fits their vibes-based narrative. It's jarring because it suddenly forces me to double-check everything else these people say which I usually agree with, just in case they're once again lying to push their chosen narrative.

The admin was experimenting with using an LLM to summarize the user's position, so as to improve modlog readability. But even that use case was rejected.

In fact, I try to prove this constantly with the tools and solutions I develop. You already know fediseer, but there's also our instance's radical democracy, not to mention the federation of anarchist instances we're attempting. But it's all disregarded because it's easier to get righteously upset.
I don't mind getting shit because we fucked up. We owned we fucked up already and posted very clearly what our actual stance is so that we can be held in account in the future. But I really mind people spreading disinfo after we explained how it's disinfo. And it particularly hurts to see other anarchists do it and call us liars to our face without evidence.

If you know what you're doing and download the .safetensor file and use FOSS software to run them, they are literally incapable of connecting to anything. And I really know what I'm talking about here.
I completely agree with you about moderation and solutionism! I am just very frustrated that I repeat again and again that we do not use LLMs for moderation and people just go like "I roll to disbelieve" and there's literally nothing I can say.

We are NOT feeding user post histories into it. From what I understand, it was one time while testing the summary feature. Qwen is a local LLM model, it has no network activity (it cannot). The whole fediverse is scraped by LLM scrapers constantly and we posted the zionist's receipts publicly anyway. Do we need to publicly audit our whole server setup because one admin used an LLM once? This is really becoming unreasonable.

For the record, the instance has never "embraced" stuff like ChatGPT or any corporate GenAI content or clients.
There was no grant from Nivenly. Haidra (a completely different project ecosystem from the lemmy instance) attempted to utilize Nivenly as a fiscal host, until microblogging outrage and rampart disinfo made Nivenly capitulate and throw Haidra under the bus. We've never received anything from Nivenly. They just wasted our time and money before discarding us.
The FOSS anti-CSAM tool we developed on our own, from our experience working with the AI Horde, has been shared for free, with all fediverse owners, to help them guard against CSAM attacks. We have not received a single penny for this work other than random donations.

Most people in the microblogging space don't realize that these hit-pieces did not come out of nowhere and the people making them have an ideological opposition to principled anti-zionists stances so they're attempting to weaponize microblogging outrage with spin and half-truths.
The lack of further outrage in the threadiverse is because every such attempt has been addressed and debunked thoroughly and people can see that. Unfortunately the microblogging peeps are not plugged in to further discussions, so they continue to belabor under the half-truths they were fed originally.
The worst people have managed to say against the FAF moderation is "well, maybe they could be a bit more professional about it, and they make some bad calls sometimes.", which, fair enough, but also, no shit, we're only humans....

@piefedadmin since rimu named our instance, I have to point out that they're deliberately misrepresenting what happened and I strongly urge people to look at the discussions in lemmy about it to get the whole picture.
To be clear, our instance does not utilize any GenAI tools in moderation. Rimu is referring to a single manual action by one admin, using the same user access as any user on the fediverse. The action was likewise completely public.
