Though it must be said, the Vatican has managed the underground church/CCPA situation quite deftly over the past few decades. They actually understand diplomacy, having had a couple millennia of practice.

I just spent 3 hours deciphering a junction box with 4 NM (Romex) cables and a light fixture, AMA. Turns out:
1) There’s a second light fixture paralleled across this one.
2) There’s a switch leg on the neutral, which makes my eye twitch a little.
3) The remaining NM is feeding at least one box elsewhere.
That doesn’t seem that bad, but a) the switch leg means white != white, and b) wire nuts max out at 3 conductors so the fixture also acts as a terminal block.

More people need to understand that “enterprise-grade” mostly has the same valence as “military-grade”.
People without military experience think “military-grade” means built for the most demanding conditions. People with military experience think “meets a possibly-not-relevant spec as cheaply as possible.”

I was a year from being eligible and got shingles in my facial nerves. That was 2020, and I am still managing the residual neuralgia.
It also tripped me over into long COVID, which you also don’t want.
To be clear, I am incredibly lucky to have had excellent and accurate care, and I’m much less impacted than many folks.
But don’t take medical advice from people who want you dead. Get the damn shots.

@Bongolian @dxzdb @mathowie @mekkaokereke Yep, and this is key: Fidelity Charitable is itself a charity, and you aren’t in *control* of the money you give it. That’s why donating to it can give you a tax break.
It’s “donor-advised” so you can *request* how you’d like your giving to be allocated, but legally it’s FC and not you making the grant, so they can apply their own rules.

@mattblaze It really is fascinating! I went down this rabbit hole learning about my large suburban FD (Montgomery County MD) and the pre-planning and training is *very* detailed. For each apparatus, once they’re told “you’re the second due” each person (defined by seat) already knows exactly what their initial assignment will be on arrival.
Obviously, very dynamic thereafter. But as they say, plans are useless, but planning is essential.
