Well today was supposed to be a relaxing easy one.
One of the young ones came through as we were eating breakfast. The other one was on the phone to her dad. Guy the family cat had gone downhill and was looking like he might either pass or need to go to the vets.
Her dad doesn't drive. The cat isn't registered with a vets. So we all pile into the truck to go there.
Get there and he has the look. He is not long for this world, having dropped a massive amount of weight over the last few days, and struggling to move. Though he really tried to perk up for her when she got to see him.
We discussed options as he wasn't in obvious pain, and we were balancing the stress of a 30 minute car journey to the vets vs staying at home. In the end, as work commitments meant her Dad couldn't be there from tomorrow, and he didn't want to have Guy alone in pain if he got worse, we decided on the vets.
We called a confused vets, who our cats are registered with, who bless struggled to work out who was who in a blended family, but double booked us in for just after lunch.
Took everyone with Guy the cat to the vets, youngest, her dad, her brother and our other young one. Explained to the receptionist who we were, and left them too it because it was a lot of people.
Stepped outside and got chatting to an old guy with a westie about tech/radio/plurality/transness. He was definitely neurospicy, even if he was too old to use the term :blobcatgiggle:
They got out having had Guy put down. The vet agreed it was the right call given his age 14-16 at beat guess.
Took them all back.
There was quite a but of decision paralysis about where to bury him, they were all understandably upset, but eventually a spot was chosen. Youngest took clay paw prints of Guy and wrapped him in a blanket.
We dug a suitable grave, and she laid him in with a toy. The family is neurospicy across the board in different ways. We managed to get them to each put some dirt in the grave by hand or shovel before we filled it in.
Then had to take her dad to a local supermarket, as he doesn't drive, and with all the stress of the cat he hadn't got to do the shopping.
Finally got home about 4pm in time go throw together a quick fish curry.
If tomorrow could just be a little less well, everything, that would be nice.
RIP Guy.
A beautiful big ginger fluffball with massive paws and huge love for his humans.
He will leave a cat shaped hole in the household and the hearts of those that knew him.

Stopped at the beach while we were up at the coast. Young ones wanted a chipper, so we grabbed a few minutes on the sand while they ate.

Two cats now delivered to their new home.
They have settled in after exploring the new space.
We had a short pause in the journey as one threw up on the other 🙀 She got a bit travel sick. But Floki was sitting on her at some points, so he possibly deserved it :blobcatgiggle:

About to transport two cats to their new home on the coast.
Our housemate moved out last week and now the flat she has is ready for her cats, it is time to take them there.
