so much of what we see in the news is the obvious consequence of kicking the can down the road instead of addressing a real problem we had months/years ago.
the federal government paying data brokers to help ICE hunt down 'voter fraud' is a combination of several of those - namely our refusal to take privacy rights/data broker regulation seriously, and not putting any amount of oversight on ICE

- this is such a fucking cool format. they did it in NYC a couple years ago, so this is the second go.
- planning to hit nights 1, 2 and 6.
- AQI of 500+ outside, sweat pouring off everyone inside
- great first night. highlight was a ~5 minute post rock drone jam into Weird Cities as the penultimate song
- sure played a lot of the hits tonight so who knows what happens tomorrow

They are a relatively large instance with open registration, seemingly no moderation and are running a 3 year old Mastodon version with known vulnerabilities. It’s likely we’ll totally block that domain in the future if things don’t change, so this is the chance to encourage any follows/mutuals there to relocate.
