Depending on how serious you are, may want to start looking into US and EU privacy law differences and understand the legal, moral and ethical framework that gave rise to current differences. They know where you live, in order to deliver the periodical. Their tacking stats and knowing which affluent neighborhoods were subscribed is how they justified the price for running a print advertisement. The more privacy oriented behavior is to rummage through the neighbor's recycling bin to obtain their copy of the previous day's newspaper.
