Working on a test setup for LED parameter extraction over temperature. I'm using a peltier element to heat/cool a block of aluminum that the LED is mounted to. The LED is powered using a fixed 10mA supply. The most important bits are probably the change in peak intensity (which correlates to lower efficiency), and the Vf drop. I need to work out a faster way to measure IV curves so that I can measure higher currents without adding too much self-heating.

Also a small warning: If you keep your phone in a case, the battery can swell without it being immediately obvious. I only noticed this when the battery life also became poor

Yes, I would like to delete my linked Signal message history on my laptop and only get 45 days of it back when I reconnect this device, because my phone battery is swollen and I needed to switch to a temporary one while getting it fixed.

I made a breakout board for TI's tinly LM36011 LED driver. It's designed for cell phone camera LEDs, and features an I2C controlled current source to power the LED ('torch mode'), as well as a short duration 'flash mode', that can bump the current up to 1.5A. Paired with a nice power LED it can put out a lot of high quality light from not much space.

@JamesAkers@expressional.social My previous attempt to do this kind of layout-first approach was purely code based: https://circuitpainter.blinkinlabs.com/ . I'd like to make the gui tool more flexible by allowing custom code to be inserted, for instance if you wanted to use it to lay out something weirder like lights with sensors interspersed into them, or something.

@JamesAkers@expressional.social I'm trying to make a companion tool specifically for LED layout, that also works backwards and generates a good-enough schematic so that you can integrate the graphically designed bits with whatever other circuitry you want on the board, to try to get the best of both worlds.

Produced a RevB of the board with nice squiggly lines, but the real issue turned out to be an excessive capacitor filter on the TX and RX clock lines. Removing that, even the RevA boards perform as expected.

With a small bit of rework, the PHY solidly negotiates a gigabit connection. Unfortunately this shows that the rgmii bus traces aren't matched well enough for 125MHz ddr- the best clock delay I could find resulted in a 75% packet loss at 1000Mbps, but if i force the connection to 100Mbps then runs flawlessly. That's all that is needed from this board rev, the goal was to verify basic functionality before spending time tuning things.

Back at the golang art-net receiver project. Interestingly, on the actual, lower-end hardware, the go-based receiver measures less jitter than on an RPi 4 or Intel laptop. Maybe this is because it's running on a stripped down buildroot environment?
