Shoutouts to the EC staff which saw 10-15 people sprinting out of the delayed S19 train coming in across the platform at Brussels Airport, and told us to our face at the last opened door that we couldn't get on. Everyone enjoys waiting an hour for the next one in an underground station you can't even exit!

While I get that they must get a lot of accidental travelers with the 'wrong' ticket, I'd really appreciate some acknowledgement that it's fine if your EC was cancelled. Anyway, the entire ECD thing is a stupid attempt at market segmentation. A faster service should cost the operators less since an omloop can take less time, meaning less trains and staff needed. I can only hope it's equalised at some point.

@RensBloom@zug.network I didn't try arguing with the staff, but they made a manual announcement during the long-ish stop in Rotterdam that EC tickets weren't valid. After that, I didn't feel like risking it, especially since I had an EC ticket bought for a different time that day, which is not on the ticket but is in the app.

Second time I want to take a Eurocity Direct because my EuroCity is cancelled, and second time the train guard explicitly announces they'll kick everyone off with an EC ticket, despite there being plenty of space. I sure love the state of NL-BE cross-border trains.

@smveerman@zug.network ah, I checked vanAnaarBeter and didn't see anything, but I did only check southbound and not northbound. That'll explain it. U-OV had something about the 85 from Leerdam not stopping at Lekbrug northbound, but I expected something about the other A2 buses as well. I guess the 84 doesn't run in weekends and 90 is considered Qbuzz's problem.

@jon@gruene.social reiterating on Lübeck - Schwerin: are there plans for direct Copenhagen - Berlin trains? I can definitely see their appeal, but always assumed that the relatively low frequency that's almost assured because of the combination of DB, DSB and Danish tunnels would mean all trains be sent to Hamburg.
