i WISH there was literally JUST ONE portable file format and i WISH there was ONE category app that operated intercompatibly
man do i miss the days of having only just one computer (incl smartphone, tablet &c)
as soon as you work with multiple devices that you need to sync files between, all hell breaks loose
as soon as you need to use different apps to edit the same file (plain text included), the firmament of the world crumbles back into god's rectum
and no it's not different whether it's ftp or rclone or icloud or spiritual diskettes
