There’s de-googling and privacy and all….thats all great. But it is a completely separate thing to take back attention from distractions, bullshit notifications and letting tech overlords reach into our daily lives and disrupting our focus and attention whenever they feel like it. Notification real estate is hugely valuable and the default for every app should be “off”, with further fine tuning as needed. Better bulk settings are needed for notification settings adjustment.

People in other countries are not dumb and neither are Americans. Making decisions as a collective and on a national level is really difficult. Americans voices are just amplified because they dominate media and the economy. This is further amplified by the fact that the state and structures support perverse incentives and systematically reward people for not acting in collective interest. Thinking you’re smart and everyone else is dumb is such an immature “I’m 14 and this is deep” kinda bullshit that it really males me think negatively of the person expressing this opinion. Stop blaming people (who are your peers and neighbours and community) and start blaming leaders and systems. But I guess none of this makes for a quick, funny meme.

I keep KISS launcher solely for the search (launch KISS search on double tapping the home button). Neo launcher was on its way to greatness, but then development was abandoned…. My organisation has fired a bunch of people and plans to replace them completely with AI. They’re pushing us to use it. Soon it will be mandatory to use ambient, always on AI for all information recording. There’s mention of working areas AI camera surveillance to monitor for efficient use of man hours (don’t know whether the tech is developed enough for this or how practical this is). The guy working above me is doing some sort of degree in implementation of AI in business and his answer to a lot of problems is “AI could probably do that for us”. Meanwhile we get training to tell us that we will personally be held accountable for the use of any errors in the AI output we use, and we will be held responsible if we input any information that was would be deemed confidential or sensitive. BTW, copilot is already activated for all our work outlook, calendar and one drive accounts and has all that data; so not sure what would be considered more sensitive information to give.

I’ve gotten good at avoiding being Rick Rolled. But this catches me out way too often.

I’ve progressed quite far in the technical science part of my job. I’m at the top end of the graph and encouraging my junior staff to simplify their language and message. Some things need technical terms, but they don’t need to use overly complicated words to say “this has moved up” or “this thing is bad”. More often meaning gets lost in using euphemisms instead of being clear about the message. I’ve moved up the management role as well and really can’t bring myself to move from the bottom end of the meme graph. Management really has its own language so they can say lots of words in meetings with very little meaning. We’re in the business of doing shit…are we going to do shit or not?
