Has @joenash@hachyderm.io got a job naming things at AWS?

I hear the cool kids are calling it: AWSPSHMDKTCOT

@0xmisterwolf James Hoffman has a great video exploring the options.

I moved some personal bits that were running on a raspberry pi recently to #AWS #Lambda using the serverless framework. This was mostly as an _easy_ way to consume SQS. I do wish I could use it with terraform, partly personal preference, but mostly because that's what I use for a lot of my "home lab" inc. DNS etc. Whilst a good learning experience, I'm probably going to go back and re-implement it in terraform, even if this would be the only part using the AWS provider...

@ecliptik@hachyderm.io I'd be interested to know if they've got self-signed certs for internal microservices, if so they may have a very long shelf life.

@nu@pl.hyperboreal.zone @ecliptik@hachyderm.io they actually expire at different times depending on region. North America is next month.

@ecliptik@hachyderm.io I was curious about the TLS cert and it seems there's more complexity to it. Only the North America one is set to expire _very_ soon, but I think it's not impossible to assume it won't get renewed owing to lack of people. Whereas will the other services keep working long enough to happen? https://hachyderm.io/@bouge/109349620482741155

Also, absolutely fascinating as to why this approach with regional certs had been taken. Any thoughts on this welcome.

As μServices start getting turned off on twitter and general degradation of service starts to occur;
I saw something that suggested that twitter's TLS certificate will expire next month, when I went to verify this I saw a different date. Hopping on a VPN I saw different certificates and expiration dates depending on region. Not only is the North American cert due to expire next month, but it looks like there is going to be some complexity to upgrading certs...

I'm very pleased with my latest #RaspberryPi creation. We've got an old-school-style door bell that runs off 8v AC, that's in keeping with the property. I got a cheap AC to DC step down converter, that's wired in to the bell at one end, and GPIO on the Raspberry Pi on the other. This is then plugged in to a little Go application that listens for the pin to be high (with some debouncing) and through the magic of a PWA, sends a push notification to my Android phone, without telling Amazon!
