Haiku just gave beta6 a date: mid-August. Yet the June report still surfaces foundational bugs: an I/O scheduler flaw that could corrupt data on modern SSDs, a memory control register misinitialized at EFI boot, and Haiku Inc.'s 2025 financial report still missing. I'm working on LANterna, a native network scanner for Haiku: every device on your LAN at a glance, with IP, hostname, open ports, vendor and device type identified via ARP, mDNS, NetBIOS, SNMP and SSDP. No Qt, no sniffing, no cloud: just POSIX sockets and BeAPI. The portable core is done and tested, the native UI still needs testing on real #Haikuos. Sotoportego 0.1.0 is out: a native VPN client for Haiku with working end-to-end OpenVPN. Import an .ovpn, optionally save the password in the keystore, and the tunnel comes up.
