@inket@mastodon.social Yeah, I mean that if you can afford it, it's the among best in the world. But if you're poor you're worse off. I live in a medium size (blue) city in a red state. I also have a disabled/medically complex daughter. We have excellent care here, but I'm also a high earning software engineer with good insurance. I've never lived in Tokyo (lived on Kyushu, but I was single), but I don't think I'd want to raise kids there either. I have a friend in Chiba who has 5 kids. Seems very hard...

@inket@mastodon.social Everything about the healthcare system in the US is great except for the way it's funded. My experience with healthcare in Japan (20 years ago) was fairly bad, but at least it didn't bankrupt me. How are you liking the US beyond healthcare?

I think I'm finally starting to find a way to make Claude Code somewhat useful for me. I don't let it write code. I haven't been able to get it to write code that meets my standards, at least not without so much back and forth that it's faster to just do it myself. Instead, I still write all my own code, but I ask it to review what I've done. It finds little mistakes that I make. It's also good enough at little refactors (that Xcode should have better tools for) that I use it for some of that.

I like the animation and fun rewind video Apple has up on their homepage, but I'm disappointed that they are not making any mention at all of Woz and Steve Jobs.

Also, the online museum thing they did for the 30th anniversary of the Mac was way cooler. I was hoping they'd do something along those lines today, but alas not.

@gruber@mastodon.social Regarding your latest post about Apple's 50th anniversary homepage, the video Tim Cook posted on Twitter is there on the homepage too. There's a "<< REW" button under the text that plays it. Oddly, it seems to only show up on iPhone (maybe iPad, haven't checked), not on Mac.

@danirabbit@mastodon.online @marioguzman@mastodon.social I've said it many, many times, but I've never used a web app that was actually good. I've used some that are good compared to other web apps, but that's an *extremely* low bar. Google Sheets/Docs/Slides is of course the floor, but the ceiling is extremely low too.

@qcoding@iosdev.space I wish we had a spot open at Luma Touch and could hire you, but I'm sure you'll find something great.
