for next year I want to make it my art experimentation year, won't spoil all of it yet but one of the things I wanna commit to is to use FOSS software all year round if I can

To name an example with pixel art, I use Aseprite since early 2020 and it's always regarded as the best option for that medium, but I wanna prove that other, foss options can also be pretty good if given the chance

for now I got Pixelorama, Krita and PixiEditor on my watch, and while I'm open for more recommendations for pixel art software, I'm also open to recommendations of other mediums (3d, voxel art, textmode/ascii, everything minus music), so if you got any other foss recommendations for creative mediums too feel free to share them!!

@inconspicuous-lurker-99@boymilk.cafe before I go any further with this reply, I'd like to clarify that out of all the veto'd icons, gimp is the closest one to possibly being removed from there, it's just that right now I wanna avoid any possible issues from including it, as I know tons of people (both inside and outside my friends circles) that are opposed to it. as for the included icons, sadly I had to include Reddit, X and Google due to the usage they can be given (there's people still using them online, and I needed to include them for those cases of people using icons to highlight their internet presence), I also had to include Proton, Microsoft and some of Adobe apps because they're still very widely used. this is one of the big caveat with doing icon sets at the end of the day, do you go all in and include as many icons as you can (even the problematic ones) or do you go more with your morals, not including some of these (which might hurt on the long-term), there's not really an easy way to tackle this and I'm still trying to figure it out, I've made icons set before but never really released them, I'm still trying to find the best way to handle this set so I'm sorry for issues like these.

@pikario@mastodon.gamedev.place it's more tied to my friends circles honestly, as GIMP (the name) can also be interpreted as a slur against incapacitated people, and apparently they've received multiple requests to change the name to something without a negative connotation, but they were ignored I would draw a GIMP Icon, but honestly I wanna avoid the troubles with this icon set
