It's been a week for large format film releases! Kodak, Ilford, and Optik Oldschool (via ORWO) have made announcements about new and reworked products:

Kodak is folding its films (including bulk rolls) under its own distribution, Ilford made Pan F huge (finally), and Optik Oldschool is selling the world's first truly new colour-negative sheet film since 2010.

Love it.

Unlike timed intervals, the F-Stop method relies on the same math we use on our cameras and offers a much easier way to see the best option in your test strips.

John also talks about dodging and burning via F-Stop and a few tools (including his own) for making the math easier.

Big news! Optik Oldschool releases the German-made OptiColour 200 in 4x5 sheets:

This is the first completely new large format colour-negative film product since 2010 and the first for this German film manufacturer.

It's also the cheapest fresh colour-negative film you can get in sheet form today.

I don't shoot LF, but this is making me wanna get a camera just to try this film. Will you try it?

I found a video and recipes for Lippmann prints — the only true colour photographic process.

Lippmann prints encode full colour in a single layer of black-and-white emulsion by registering incoming light wavelengths within its structure as tiny mirrors.

It's unlike anything any factory has ever created. While it has some shortcomings, it brings things like blue halations and cotton candy skies to the table.

I just bought a few rolls of the new Harman Switch Azure and compared it directly to Lomochrome Turquoise:

Despite doing roughly the same thing, these films look wildly different — one is much crazier than the other.

This comparison tests those emulsions with various exposure settings in "normal" and modified (bluescaled) shooting configurations.

Can you tell which is which?
