Update: This has now been fixed in version 7.42.2 if you're on Signal beta and 7.41.4 if you're on Signal production. https://github.com/signalapp/Signal-Android/issues/14154#issuecomment-2892471406
If anyone has suddenly experienced #Signal on android crashing, the best workaround we have now is:
- Set clock to a time before 13:00 UTC 2025-05-19 in whatever timezone you're in (so in the UK I'd set it to before 14:00)
- Open up signal and make a local backup *make sure you know the passphrase*
- Copy this backup to a safe place
- Delete and reinstall signal
- Restore the backup you made
- Set your time back to normal
