For developer advocacy though, I've no idea. Where are the ideal places these days if you're pushing to do developer advocacy work? Reddit? YouTube? Somewhere else? I guess it depends on topics and all, but where has that productive conversation gone? 🧵 3/3
Over the last bunch of years there has been a massive consolidation of Social Media - largely from Twitter & Facebook (FB? maybe not) - to a dispersion of other options. Twitter is left with basically trash accounts and low-visibiility with almost zero productive conversations actually happening. But still cropping up every now and again. Truth social if you're a sychophant of Trumps. 🧵 1/3

I'm watching Matt Pocock's "Full Walkthrough: Workflow for AI Coding". The reason is, I've decided after months of not watching any talks or consuming any content related to AI - just trying it and doing it - I figured I'd start watching some videos and consuming some content of what others' have tried.
McDonald’s is seriously shit these days. It’s just a campy place to sit while machines and some behind the machines churns out meh food. The aura is bad. 😑
Need the return of some humans and clowns and nasty ball pits or something. But meh, I guess don’t do it for me constituency, we’re not the target market for anything.

When you're managing the state of your database and its respective schema, do you...
- Setup migrations and have a folder with files, etc, that manage each state (version) of the database schema over time for history or...
- Have a singular or set of current state of DDL for the active database state and let source control (i.e. git or whatever) manage the over time history of the database schema?
Ok, I'm going to rant for a moment.
If you're setting up calls and sending an AI "person" to talk to me on the phone there are very few ways you don't get black listed/blocking/refusing business by me immediately. EVERYBODY else should start doing this too, it is unacceptable.
All of these are based on really basic rules of honorable human interactions: don't lie, don't deceive, and be kind, don't assume what other's are from or dealing with.

Remember, when you inject an AI bot or AI audio/verbal process into the mix you're DEHUMANIZING the process, decreasing by default the customer service aspect, removing the personal human element of your service, and overall breaking at least several of the previously stated rules of interaction - if not ALL of them.

Especially in higher knowledge fields, this might work in some spaces, but I'm not going to have a verbal conversation with an AI about work I've done that has lots of nuance, specifics, details, and details it has no way to deal with. If you want to talk about it, a human should be talking to me about it. Otherwise just send an email or text message if you still want to be moderately annoying about it. 3. 🧵 3/6

If you think you need to or MUST inject at AI call into a process like this, your process is likely SEVERELY broken already and you need other fixes before you start screwing it up more with a voice based AI call in the middle. Any type of *voice* interaction should be a secondary or tertiary method of interaction with other humans. 🧵 4/6

There might not be precedence but I'm betting there will be eventually. 2. Aside from already moving at a dramatically slower rate than the rest of the industry, AI is slowing down those companies even more because they can't simply use the tooling without vast and drastic security issues. In turn, these industries have had to lock down themselves and their engineers to prevent usage even more harshly than before - slowing things down even more than the regulation, auditing, and controls had previously put into place. 🧵 3/9

If you don't know how to code without AI tooling like CoPilot, Cursor, Claude, or whatever, you're not going to get as far along with those tools as you should be able to get on a day to day basis.
