So, it's a blockbuster cross-promotion. As it was in the middle of WWII, Mulan was treated as a war hero back then. Combined with the Chinese aesthetic of the painting, this is strangely also a patriotic marketing attempt.

One of my strangest memories from primary school in China is learning about Spartacus. The text was formatted as a play, and we had to act it out.
At the end, Spartacus called to the slaves: "Ye who refuse to be slaves, arise!"... which are the lyrics of the Chinese National Anthem. It was weird.
