The more Trump's polling numbers go down, the more shooting attempts there are.
Maybe it is becuase Trump is staging these, and getting desperate.
Maybe it is because as Trump becomes less popular, more people think it would be a good idea to shoot him.
The why is not very important to me.
What matters is that each time this happens, the bump in his poll numbers get smaller and smaller. At this point, the bump is essentially negligible, and his poll numbers continue to plummet.
At some point, these things are going to cause the public to perceive him as weak. Things will get fun after that.
I take back what I said above. If he is staging this, the outcome will be extra funny and deliciously ironic.

A surprising number of discoveries in physics can be summed up by the sentence, “Wait, you mean that thing is REAL?”
Murray Gell-Mann came up with quarks and thought it was an accounting trick that made it easier to categorize the “particle zoo.” Later, someone performed a scattering experiment and bounced particles off of quarks, demonstrating that they were real, physical things that could interact with other particles.
Electric fields and magnetic fields were thought of as a mental model or a crutch for people who could not handle the vector math that described the strength and direction of magnetic or charge-based forces surrounding a particle. A crutch for experimental physicists such as Michael Faraday, who, building on the work of Hans Ørsted helped to prove that magnetic and electric fields were real, physical things by showing that they interacted with each other (laying the groundwork for every electric motor and generator in existence).
Maxwell's famous equations predicted a “free running wave” that turned out to be all electromagnetic radiation, including light, radio waves, ultraviolet, etc.
The cosmic microwave background turned out to be real and was discovered by engineers trying to track down the source of a signal that they thought was the result of faulty equipment.
This is not a complete list.

Interesting.
Apparently, life is pretty horrible for Israelis in the Zionist state.
This explains a lot. Israelis are willing to support genocide because they believe it will allow them to escape poverty. The state brutalizes Arab Muslims and Ethiopian Jews in order to distract Israelis from thinking too hard about how bad they have it.
It's basically a more extreme version of the USA.
Expansion will not save them, just like it didn't save the Nazis, because their system is fundamentally flawed and corrupt.

We don't actually know if ninjas were a real thing.
First, most of what you “know” about ninjas was completely made up by TV shows and movies.
Second, we have the problem of Japan being both highly literate AND isolated, so we cannot cross-check against other historical records to make sure someone wasn’t lying or changing the historical record. For all we know, “ninjas” were just a cover story for samurai who broke the samurai code in the name of the usual statecraft shenanigans.
For different reasons, we do not know if shield maidens were really a thing either. I assure you that is just as disappointing to Scandinavians as telling Japanese people that ninjas may not have been real.
On a related note, why hasn't anyone made a ninjas vs shield maidens movie? C’mon, possibly mythical assassins vs possibly mythical bodyguards? The script practically writes itself.

This is a bit late, but I'm case some of you are planning to use your tax refund check to buy a printer, I want to clear up some conflicting advice from tech websites.
Here's what they leave out when discussing laser vs inkjet: the cost per page for inkjet printers is highly variable based on how frequently you print stuff.
Inkjets have tiny nozzles that squirt ink onto the page. They are small enough that there is a danger that ink will dry up in those nozzles and clog them, resulting in bad image quality. To prevent this, your inkjet has a little sponge inside. If you haven't printed anything in a while, your printer will park the print heads over the sponge and spray ink into the sponge.
So the less frequently you print the more of your ink ends up in the sponge instead of on paper. There is no upward boundary to how much this can increase the cost-per-page of your printer. Your printer could theoretically empty an entire ink cartridge into that sponge, resulting in an infinite cost-per-page.
Laser printers work by melting a dry powder into the page. The cost-per-page is not really affected appreciably by the frequency of printing.
If you print a lot every day, then the cost-per-page for color inkjet is about the same as color laser (at least for consumer-grade printers based on analysis of printers in an office I worked in a couple decades ago [this was in an environment where all printers were used very regularly and relatively little ink from the inkjets ended up in the sponge]). Monochrome laser printers have the lowest cost-per-page, particularly if you buy the more expensive office-grade laser printers.
If printing photos is important to you, inkjet printers produce better quality color photo images, particularly if you use the expensive glossy paper.
Hope that helps

There's a weird fad going on in the gaming world in which a lot of people are convincing themselves that old-fashioned CRTs are better than modern LCD/OLED displays.
First, if you use a CRT all day, every day, it can cause eye strain because of the extra flicker. Given the way CRTs work, there is only one pixel lit at any given moment. Your brain has to assemble all the pieces over time into a coherent image, and for a lot of people, that can cause eye strain over prolonged periods of time.
Second, they get dimmer as they age, which can make the eye strain problem worse.
Third, they consume a lot more electricity and produce more heat.
Fourth, never take one apart for any reason. A professional would drain the big (quite lethal) capacitor for days before working on one of those things. Mess with the innards in the wrong way, and you could kill someone.
Fifth, and I know a lot of people disagree with me on this point, but they only improve image quality for certain older games. Even when you take into account the greyish "blacks" of IPS panels.

**Dictatorship of the Proletariat**
If you are American, you have been surrounded by anti-Communist propaganda your whole life.
If you are younger, chances are that you have even more misconceptions about communism.
For one thing, you were told that communism is all about having a totalitarian government, when the actual end goal is somewhere in between libertarianism and pure anarchy. What we saw in Communist countries during the Cold War (and still today) is something called the _Dictatorship of the Proletariat_, which is supposed to be a temporary thing. It is supposed to be a stepping stone to near-anarchy.
Libertarians believe in a weak national government. Communists want no national government. They believe that any organization of humans bigger than city hall will inevitably oppress humans (and they may be right about that).
Taken from this point of view, corporations cannot be allowed to exist because they will always grow into something bigger than city hall, and thus will always oppress.
The _Dictatorship of the Proletariat_ is supposed to be a temporary structure that shepherds humanity into the end goal of a world without national governments.
One of the biggest criticisms of Marxist Communism is that once you reach the point of the _Dictatorship of the Proletariat_, there is no path out. Once humans have power, they will not relinquish it. The longer you give humans ultimate authority over others, the more entrenched they will become, and the more they will do to keep power.
The problem with libertarianism is that it places no checks or balances on wealthy people and corporations, so it will always lead to a feudal-like society with a new overclass ruling over us all. It cannot lead to greater liberty, only less. This is why I prefer the term neofuedalism over libertarianism.
In theory, the people act to check the power of the _Dictatorship of the Proletariat_, but in practice, that doesn't happen. In practice, you have the same problem as with libertarianism. You end up with a small group with absolute authority, and no way to dislodge or influence them short of violent revolution.
In my opinion, any successful form of Communism would need to forgo the _Dictatorship of the Proletariat_ entirely, or at least implement it in a way that puts checks and balances over the dictatorship.
To the best of my knowledge, no Communist government ever made the leap from _Dictatorship of the Proletariat_ to near-anarchy. So far, the critics who complained about the DoP have been proved right.
But most Americans have the wrong idea. They think the dictatorship is itself the end goal. The end goal is a form of freedom so extreme that it is closer to anarchy than, well, anything other than actual anarchy.
My main worry about this utopia is this: once you reach that utopia, all it takes is for one city-state to try and conquer another city-state, and the "scientific history" communists talk about starts all over again from square one, and inevitably lead back to the same systems of oppression that Communism was supposed to save us from.
But I digress.
Most Americans learn about communism from capitalists (note: if you're not sitting around a swimming pool waiting for your dividend check to come, you're not a capitalist, you're an exploited worker with Stockholm syndrome), and so most Americans have a lot of weird misconceptions about what communism even is.
I'm sick of capitalism's bullshit, but I'm suspicious of Marxist Communism because in my opinion it has too many of the same flaws as libertarianism or anarchism.
I'm not going to pretend to know what would be the best form of socialism, but I'm pretty sure it's not Marxism.
If you are American, please stop getting your information about communism from oppressors who have an obvious motive to lie to you.
You could, you know, get your information from the source: Marx and Engels.
Even if you are a capitalist, it is worth reading them. Their analysis of the problems with capitalism are shockingly relevant even centuries later. This is because their analysis of the problems with capitalism was based on analyzing a large amount of evidence.
Where they go wrong (in my opinion) is the proposed solution. Unlike their analysis of the problem, their proposed solution is not evidence-based. How could it be? If we had that kind of evidence, we would not need their analysis.
This mirrors something we've seen in science a lot.
Newton came up with the Law of Gravity by analyzing a lot of evidence. When someone asked him if he had a theory of gravity to go with his law, what he proposed was so off the mark that physicists don't like talking about it.
When someone makes an important evidence-based conclusion, their next-proposed hypothesis/solution in the same topic is rarely correct, no matter how smart or knowledgeable they are.
