Today I found out a friend of mine had just died after a series of strokes. She had a family history for them, I'm afraid. It'd been a few years since I really spoke with her regularly - we sort of drifted apart for a variety of factors during the pandemic. Early pandemic, I had sent a fair amount of money to her to help when she lost her job and became homeless. After she got stable housing again she sort of just said less and less.
Suddenly, there's another hole in the world in the shape of a person, even if it's a person who wasn't really communicating much. I'm sad and I'm disheartened and I have a whole mix of feelings that I don't really know how to sort through.
