@Cassana@pagan.plus Thank you! So much better to hear straight from the source! And to be able to ask someone who's blind directly. Have you been blind your whole life? If so, how does that affect image descriptions for you? Because when I describe an image, I would probably naturally start explaining it using descriptions that are very biased towards having been able to see all my life.

I love how the EU doesn't recognise e-sport as sports because the games are privately owned and controlled by corporations. Like, I'm not joking, that's such a great stance!

A corporation running a game can ruin someone's career by making a balance change to the game. They can somewhat fix matches that way by pushing an update just before a tournament.

For videogames to qualify as an actually sports, they'd have to be standards-based rather than implementation-based. Ergo, I can play chess on any kind of board with any pieces so long as they meet the criteria for the rules of the game. But videogames aren't built like that. They're implementation-based and owned by private corporations which makes them really unfit as sports.

@hilljam@mastodon.social I'm saying this as someone who was popular on Kitsu and am a mod and dev there. Often if I ended up DMing someone, they'd express that they didn't want to waste my time or felt like they weren't worth my time or smth because I was popular and they weren't. I haven't seen much of the opposite tho.

@hilljam@mastodon.social My experience using other small sites like AniList and Kitsu is that newcomers tend to be scared of people with a lot of followers and/or that gets a lot of likes/comments. Often feeling like they're not worth their time. Which really sucks tbh.
